Buy low, sell high! Does it matter if a player hit 20 goals last season, or 4 seasons ago, would it affect their ability to do it again the next season, they're still the same player after all.

Ideally you'd want a player to show they can consistently hit a goal figure for several seasons, that'd be what I'd be spending £10m+ on. Until a player demonstrates that consistency I'd not be throwing such massive sums at them, I'd want a sure thing at Championship level for that price.

I agree. But that wasn't your rule of thumb. Which was don't buy a player after their best goalscoring season.

Also players consistently scoring 20 goals for several seasons would either be too old or too expensive. I can't even think of any tbh. Jordan Rhodes?

Sorry everyone, I can't go into too much detail atm with what I have been informed so that's why I'm not responding to everyone's posts. Larsen was there again today and trained. Not sure what th

When Scott came we were all dreaming of him finding a Pukki for us, a player who had seriously underwhelmed in his career before Norwich. Now we are having meltdowns because that is exactly what the C

Looking at Riis's stats, I'm not convinced he's going to work in this system.

I compared him to sporar's performance (being the most similar striker we had) last season and pretty much the only category he has him beat in is goals.

You don't like strikers that score goals and you don't like defenders that stop goals!

I'd probably prefer Riis over Larsen myself. They appear to be similar players...big, physical, imposing, lead the line and can finish well. Riis we know can do it at this level whilst Stand Larsen is the unknown and granted might have the higher ceiling but he's still an unknown.

One thing I do note from Riis goals is that he seems to be able to finish well with both feet. A few of our strikers recently have been painfully one footed, which gives defenders a better chance of a successful block.

Is the Riis approach a stalking horse for Larsen, just showing Groningen we won't wait for them to comeback to the table for ever.

That is 100% part of the strategy. We can start playing Preston and Groningen off against each other.

Or instead of having to sift through all the potential songs, people get the gist summed up in one concise megamix. I thought that's what everybody on here wanted? 😘

Nah - thats' lazy title writing...plus it writes off other potential songs for future transfer threads. 😉

Megamixes are for kids' parties and the checkout counter at supermarkets only.

We seem to be going full Scandinavian haha Forss from Finland Riis Denmark and Larsen from Norway, just need a Swede now to complete the set.

Knowing Boro we're more likely to sign a Turnip than a Swede!

I'm possibly talking nonsense here but to be honest i'm going to say it anyways :classic_biggrin:
I think Emil Riis was always one of Wilder's top targets, the same for Gyökeres, Rhodes, Gayle & McGoldrick but Kieran Scott wanted Forss, Hoppe, Larsen & Muniz as long term projects plus another maybe Archer? but now given the situation we are in with targets and late in the window Riis seems an option that both Scott And Wilder have agreed is affordable and a good fit for the style of football we play??

That's my opinion i'm sticking to it :classic_tongue:

I personally think we will get Riis.

Doubt it, Preston seem to want even more than we've offered for Larsen (who from the timeline of things is clearly higher up our list of targets).

The other credible option here is that whilst Crackers has been off here, he has been manufacturing our interest in Riis to try and get some ITK credibility, as he mentioned him about 2 months ago.
