Yeah dijksteel player right back in a back 4 up until after the transfer window closed. Jones played left wing until he got dropped for a couple of games then came back in as a rwb and never looked back. Spence was sent out purely because Warnock had no idea how to manage him and thought the only solution was to get rid. Instead of you know... Playing him in his right position.

Shane Long has just been released from Southampton. I’d take him on a free like. He’s a Wilder type and Irish 👀 😂

Never known where the back of the net is, not for me thanks.

Long is such a weird player. He's even quicker than Adama (over short distances at least) but in his entire career he never really figured out how to make the most of it. Few too years late now but he would have loved playing this system at one stage.

Had one great season with Reading in the Championship. Think they're hoping he'll come back this Summer, but I imagine he'd have to take a decent wage cut.

Not really, Jones had forced Spence out of the team when both were still here. Spence was in and around the squad for the first 5/6 games.

I don't agree. When Spence left we were playing a 4231. Spence was mainly played as a RW and Jones as a LW but neither were starting every week under warnock. Jones was in and out of the starting 11 and I certainly don't remember him playing at RW too much. Spence was loaned out because Warnock couldn't manage him and seen him as a "bad apple" as he later went on to describe the players he had gotten rid of last season.

Jones only ended up RWB because the clueless old dinosaur decided to play 532 after he had loaned out 2 specialist wingbacks and resorted to any of Jones, Tav, Hernandez, Peltier and Dijksteel to play there luckily for us Jones excelled but our struggles down the left were well documented even after warnock left.

I guess they might have been more interested in selling if they weren’t being offered £15m to £20m for Lewis-Potter. Greaves only has a year left on contract though, so that could concentrate the mind. If it was a couple of weeks ago we’ve probably moved on though.

fair chance we will make another approach being that hull have just signed  figueredo from forest.

When Djed Spence left on loan Izzy was playing at LW, so I don't think this is right mate.

One of those interesting quirks that happen occasionally. Djed was much better at RWB than RW, which was what we needed in Warnock's system, so we loaned him out in favour of our RW prospect. Then the manager changed to someone who plays with wing-backs, and it turned out our RW prospect was also extremely good as a wing-back. Original RWB excelled in his loan team, but, we didn't miss him a jot, so everyone's a winner.
