We've been very good at selling players for years. Fingers crossed there's more than meets the eye to this fee.

Seems literally everyone can see this apart from Tav

Money talks. They could possibly double/ treble his wages on a long term contract. Can’t fault him

Negative KM is back. 😠

What on earth are we doing selling our best player three days before the season starts? I really don’t get the logic behind this at all. By the sounds of it he was not pushing for a transfer so if we were prepared to sell him we should have held out for more than that pathetic sum. If we don’t spend big in this transfer window now then I honestly don’t get what the thinking is behind this?

Best of luck to Tav who has been a proper top professional at Boro, going to miss ya. 🥺

Good to see we’re still the same old pushovers we always were

This is a fallacy.

Side note but now we've sold Tav and Spence for 25m+ I'm underwhelmed with Prem loans potentially being our big marquee striker signings

Spending big on loan fees is just burning the money

I think, looking in and based on Wilder's comments that this maybe Scott's decision. McGree was clearly bought in to play LCM and, arguably, this is the peak value we will get for Tav as his contract runs down. I suspect that if we had wanted to keep Tav and offered him a suitable pay rise he would have stayed but if we're serious about selling players when they bring in the best value then we're swapping Tav for McGree and pocketing about £10m.

Not in ITK, just piecing together the pieces. If the Garner rumours have any substance then this allows us to, potentially, upgrade Howson with Garner. It also presumably means that Forss is done all bar the press conference.

Personally, I think it's a mistake but that's a judgement call and, let's face it, we appointed Scott to look at the big picture and make those calls.

So that's a minimum of 25 mil or so for two players we've brought through the youth system (sort of).

The kicker now is if we can actually reinvest and make the overall squad better.

Time for Scott & co to show their worth.

100% and not just in the loan market, short-term thinking demands short-term success. If we blow our load on big loan signings, the pressure on us to go up goes through the bloody roof. I hope we reinvest this smartly and make our side look better for the long-term rather than the short.

Gibson better seriously get his hands in his pockets now

As opposed to what? Not putting his hands in his pocket?

He been bankrolling this club for years out his own pocket so dont think he needs to be told by self entitled fans who are having a tantrum over a transfer fee to start doing something he done for years.

Question his decision making but ridiculous to question his financial commitment.

How on earth we selling Tavernier for less than Spence that's disgraceful business he's worth 15 million plus we can't even sign Gyökeres for that

No matter what we sell Tav for, we shouldn't spend £15m on Gyokeres.
