We’re close to signing Gayle, it’s almost done.

Excellent news, good signing for us gets the ball rolling for incomings.

Have you heard anything about darlow? Surely we'd be trying to get that over the line at the same time? Or is the utd rumblings true?

One of those players we've been linked with in every window for years.

It'll be weird to see it finally happen.

Will be like when Bolasie finally got through the door

Massively dissapointing? I agree

How was he massively disappointing? 3 goals and 3 assists in 900 odd mins, that's a goal contribution ever 155mins for a winger in a Warnock team. Bit of revisionism going on here I think

His stats on paper look a lot better than his performances felt at the time. Balogun was the same. On paper, Balogun's return of 3 goals and 3 assists in a first loan to the championship are quite decent but watching him play was to feel that most of the match passed him by.

With Bolasie, I think I expected a lot more from him. He was also unfortunate to be brought in at a time when the team as a whole started to underperform and got caught up in that. Probably I would mark Bolasie a solid B but feel disappointed that it wasn't better.

Balogun's stats: 3 goals, 3 assists, 897 minutes.

Heard nothing on it at all. Not saying it’s not happening, just don’t know

Interesting. We've certainly needed someone who can find the net with the "easy" chances. Hope he can be our Billy Sharp. Do you know anything about the deal? Loan or permanent? Hope Newcastle will take a hit on the wages as I can't see us matching them. He's apparently on 40k and still has two years on his contract. That's a lot of money for a soon to be 33 year old striker with just 649 minutes in the last two season.

I personally thought he looked the best player in the team in that period, stats aside.

Though that's not saying much, we were pretty dreadful at that point. B is probably fair. Balogan I'd rate as a C plus probably, he wasn't in games unless he was scoring.

Expect us to get Gyokeres after Spence goes. Just been told it’s a large part of the fee going on him.

No idea on either fee though

    • What's been ignored in all of this transfer noise is , a striker scored on his debut ,  COB
    • Found a Dutch defensive midfielder Mees Hoedemakers who may fit the requirements, unfortunately again in the highlights his defensive ability not shown.  The Italians in the previous post and this player have valuations of 1.2 million euros or less if Transfermkt can be believed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTj5iZhK0Rs Also an Australian box to box midfielder I'd recommend Boro have a look at is Angus Thurgate, a big improver last season, became more of a threat going forward and  definitely handles the defensive side as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGb-QtRhfas
    • Choudhury looks he would be a top signing if he wants to come here, someone said he's rejected us twice though. Here are two other defensive midfielders I've come across on database searches, both Italian. Pity that their short highlights don't include their defensive efforts, but they both look like they can control play in possession well. Both also have been loaned extensively by their parent clubs, they might be interested in a permanent home. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=do1xIWsDD8A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYhm0Rt6PTk
    • Clearly Parker not the only coach that isn’t in charge of recruitment
    • Just a thought but....   General concensus is we need a lcb and at least two midfielders. And in reality the only ones we've been "linked" with are greaves, choudhary and hannibal. All British based players. We also need at least one more striker, and we've been linked with hoppe, Henry, larsen to name but 3. I wonder if there are possibilities of us finding a gem or two for the defensive and midfield positions from abroad too. Especially given the eredivisie link and we have only really been linked to 1 player from the Dutch league.
