It would make a lot of sense for them to have an experienced Pro at this level and both he and Alex Neil know what they will get from each other. Financially they may offer him a little bit more and/or even an additional year. Ideal would be for him to stay here but I totally understand if he has the vibe that he is being replaced and put out to pasture early if he remains. Link to post Share on other sites

Hopefully 2 signings in very soon Despite him having an excellent season, and I am a big fan of Howson, I think it’s the right decision. It would be fantastic if he decided to stay as a back up but it’s probably not what he wants at this stage of his career. Reminds me of when Grant and George left - great pros and have given us everything but no real room for sentiment. It’s a tough position and massively important, so I can understand Wilder looking for an upgrade. 1 Link to post Share on other sites

He is predominantly a number 8 who can play number 10. wilder rarely plays a number 10, if ever. Our number 8’s are mainly Crooks and Payero. Wilder was unhappy with Crooks yellow card collection and the talk of Payero heading elsewhere (if true) would likely have meant Swift and Crooks battling it out, arguably strengthening the squad, most likely with Swift getting the nod to start with (in my opinion that is). Whoever can guess correctly from the two Fulham midfielders who have played for us before, one of whom would never be considered to be a replacement for Howson?
