Dwight Gayle deal collapsed as we have made surprise progress on 2 strikers and we pulled the plug.( both played uk last year ). Spence deal preventing finalising them both.  Could be another big exit

We’re close to signing Gayle, it’s almost done.

Expect us to get Gyokeres after Spence goes. Just been told it’s a large part of the fee going on him.    No idea on either fee though

Regarding Dele Alli, can anyone think of another player who has declined so much at a relatively young age?

within the Boro universe - or the Boroverse... Andy Campbell has gotta be up there.

Actually thinking about it, there are loads of boro examples. Matty Bates, Rhys Williams I had high hopes for, for example.

If they're asking for £20m, he'll be staying there.

Oops I thought they were offering £20M to take him!

I was going to suggest we ask them for £30M and it's a deal.

Didn’t they buy him for £40m? I just don’t get that football club at all. It’s no wonder they are in such turmoil.

It was initially a free transfer, with potential to rise to £40m. Was done as an FFP swindle where he couldn't actually hit any of the options until next season at the earliest, it would be quite funny if Spurs actually ended up with nothing if they binned him off this summer.

A fee rising to £30-40m, it's an initial free transfer which has incremental payments when criteria are met.

The first being a £10m fee when he's made 20 appearances, he's only made 9.

There's absolutely no chance he's met any clauses to raise that fee yet, he's made absolutely no impact at all.

Spurs will surely have a clause in there to get some money out of the deal. Definitely not the 40mil but you'd expect levy to not be quite that stupid.

Yeah, I don't think there's any way he didn't consider the possibility that he might make less than 20 appearances and Everton would try to sell him on and just make pure profit.

There's surely something agreed to prevent that.

Maybe I'm being naïve, but if everyone knows he didn't hit any targets and was therefore still a free transfer, how the hell are Everton ever going to ask for £20m for him?

It was impossible for him to hit the targets this season. They signed him with 18 games left and one clause kicked in after 20.

It was all done because Everton were so far over FFP they couldn’t put it through the books any other way.

If any club want surely they will bid a max of what it takes Everton to pay him off. But he’s probably on a huge contract so that could be quite a hefty payoff. Maybe a return to boyhood club Forest if they go up.
