Dwight Gayle deal collapsed as we have made surprise progress on 2 strikers and we pulled the plug.( both played uk last year ). Spence deal preventing finalising them both.  Could be another big exit

We’re close to signing Gayle, it’s almost done.

Expect us to get Gyokeres after Spence goes. Just been told it’s a large part of the fee going on him.    No idea on either fee though

I was just messing. However, I don't think Kieran Scott wouls be amused finding you likening him to Gary Gill. No serious football man deserves that comparison haha.

Gill did a better job than Scott has done so far.  Early days of course but hardly anything he has apparently been involved in has gone particularly well to date.

It does seem dubious but wasn't Nixon the fella who got the Rhodes story the first time around?  I thought he was reporting it before anyone else?

Yeah he’s benn on the ball with all rhodes moves he lives in the north west most of his better info is based around that area

Might have some truth to it then?

If people are after lower league/left-field signings, take a look at Andre greene. just won the league with Slovan Bratislava.
only 23 and he netted 14 goals in all comps including 4 in 6 in the Europa conference. Could probs be signed pretty cheap.
also, I think it shows  a postive attitude when a players willing to go aboard to get their career going.

He has a connection with Rhodes’ agent.

I think he was also the first to link us with Darlow.

Sell Spence, sign Gibson, Darlow, Rhodes, Gregory with that money.  Akpom, Payero, Fisher, Ameobi will all be like new signings for us.  What more could anyone want from a transfer window? 🤷‍♂️

Wouldn’t mind seeing Cyrus Christie back as competition for Jones, good RWB at this level and not wanted at Fulham.

Up there with the worst full back I’ve seen defensively at the club. Good going forward but shocking the other way.

I agree with everything except i don't think we need to sign two strikers that aren't any better than what we already have and also coming to the end of their careers.

I'd be happy with Akpom being given a chance, then we have Coburn and Watmore. theres our 3 back ups potentially with maybe even Ameobi slotting in. But we need 2 strikers that are better than those 3 and thats just not Gregory or Rhodes.  Neither are improvements on what we already have. Also, do either of them have the workhorse mentality that is expected of a wilder striker? i personally dont think so.

And Lenihan I think

He's fairly reliable when it concerns Boro I'm sure

    • It depends on who we get tho. I doubt we can think for the next 10 years we should play with wingbacks. For instance dijksteel wouldn't be as good in 2 man cb partnership. I'd imagine after wilder we may want to change that. Also then a type of cm wilder wants might not be as suitable or effective in a 2. Wilder plays a very specific system and wants players with specific qualities to play in it. If we are being cautious with spending on certain positions but still getting good quality players while we are in this league I'm happy with that. You only need to look at Sheff Utd under Jokanovic and then what happened when they reverted back to the wilder shape under Heckingbottom to see how players struggle to adapt to a new style when they don't suit it.
    • 6 for me. 4 for the player but an extra couple of points for the structure of the deal. Under previous regimes I feel like we would've bought outright and been stuck with him.
    • Maybe some of our (potential) loan deals will have a buy option like with Sporar. Would love that for Armstrong
    • I don't think Payero engages enough in midfield for Wilder. He does well shadowing the opposition and tracking their movement, but if you watch him, most of the time he allows the opposition to pass it off without engaging
    • Understand that line of thinking, but on the flipside if we were promoted to the prem we'd ideally want better strikers than we're able to attract now. Bringing those 3 in would mean we wouldn't have Championship level strikers needing shifted on if we were promoted next summer, or put us in a tricky spot if we cock it up, miss out and need to mind FFP for the next couple seasons. Good way to gamble without getting stranded with another Fletcher/Britt situation.
