Boro vs West Brom 1-1 (Jones)

1.       Who makes your starting XI? (shouldn’t take long) no surprises in selection for me.

dijk lenny fry back 3. and the rest picks itself,

2.       Which fixture are you most looking forward to this season?

any late stage cup game and possible promotion decider. but be nice to beat the deck chairs twice. i'll enjoy the 'its not a derby' 'we dont care' comments.

3.       Where are we going to finish come next May?

play offs at best probably. with our current players. if we get some strikers in pushing auto spots hopefully. dont think its very high on quality this league. so we'll need a few other bodies in really go for auto's, its more fatigue than anything that will hold us back.

4.       If we could sign one current Championship player on loan for a season, who would you pick?

that cm at sheff united, class player, i think wilder signed him. sander berge

Personally think there were more positives than negatives there.  To play a team that will probably be top 6 with so many holes in the squad and still outperform them quite significantly in large

I’ve never really understood this ‘My Type’ thing 🤷‍♂️   At this stage of my life, as long as she has more teeth than kids and most of her tattoos are spelt correctly I’m good to go 👍

1. Who makes your starting XI? (shouldn’t take long)

Steffen

Dijksteel Lenihan Fry

Jones Crooks Howson Tavernier Giles

Watmore McGree

I toyed with having Bola in at LCB but I think we might be better with more aerial ability at the back for this one.

2. Which fixture are you most looking forward to this season?

The next one. Always the next one.

3. Where are we going to finish come next May?

Based on the current squad, just outside the playoffs. Last season we might as well have had no strikers and this season so far, we just literally don't have any. So it seems a fine assumption.

4. If we could sign one current Championship player on loan for a season, who would you pick?

It'd have to be a striker right now so maybe Karlan Grant?

Just wondering if the current rise in cost of living is making anyone question going to the game also as it’s on sky tv.

For myself living best part of 200 miles away from the Riverside the fuel cost and shocking public transport really made me think about going up to the game. Also travelling up to the game on my own so no way of sharing fuel costs etc.

I'm no longer in pompey, local now and I'm querying going.  If I still had same travel, not a chance would I be going.

lol at them crisp formations, surely we only have half a open bag of space raiders up front though?

Our front line is more like a pack of salt and shake where the sachet of salt is missing.

That would be a sad day - just a bag of shake.

On a related note, I bought a bag of Whole Nut minis from the outlet shop at Gretna the other day and ONE DIDN'T HAVE A NUT IN. It's a good job there was extra chocolate present to soften the blow.

Same here.

Even before the pandemic the time and cost involved was prohibitive. Its the reason I limited my matchday attendances to fairly local venues. Think the furthest I ever went was Reading. Even going to places like Derby & Birmingham is a bit of a stretch. Been to Brum a few times for work meetings and the hassle of getting to my local train station, finding parking, then the train journey itself is quite off-putting.

Especially when you can just watch a stream thats a few minutes behind the action. 😁

People are saying the line up picks itself and the majority of selections have Watmore and Mcgree as our forwards. Have we now gone from 'Coburn should be given  a chance', to being happy playing Mcgree in a kind of 541/3511? I get that this game is must not lose rather than must win so think we will see a safety first approach but for me it doesnt look good for Coburn when our perceived 4th choice cm is preffered to him.

I just think for the "hold up" role as it were McGree fits better. I'm high on Coburn & he's definitely filled out a bit but I don't think he's as good as McGree at bringing people into play.

Right now for me it would be McGree alongside either Watmore or Coburn, but need McGree there to link the play IMO

But if Wilder wants 5 strikers and we are assuming Coburn is 5th choice - our 4th choice cm is ahead of him. If Tav leaves, we assume Mcgree becomes our 3rd choice cm so our 3rd choice cm will be ahead of our 5th choice st. Really not a ringing endorsement for Coburn. Wilder would rather deviate from his preffered formation than play Coburn/Akpom with Watmore up top. Of course all this assumes that is the lineup.

I like Coburn. I think he is eager and aggressive and generally gets his shots and headers close to target. He seems to follow the play when wingers get to the byline better than the other senior strikers we had last season If we are going to have a 5th choice striker we never use unless an absolute emergency then hopefully we get more options in, loan him out to play a meaningful 30+ games and use a 17/18 year old instead.

It could be just a simple case of only having two specialised forwards in the squad and he always wants at least one of them on the pitch or available to come on. It could well change if we get more strikers in.
