Wilder said that Akpom didn't start because of his lack of conditioning. Which is a fair enough reason, but it's Wilder's fault for not involving him in pre-season.

End of the day if you go 3-0 down in the first half you can't complain when you come away empty handed at full time

If Wilder insists on playing this system of releasing the wingbacks upfield then he has to solve the problem of who is going to protect the centre halves when we lose possession. The best example was

Fry and McNair in at the back today we don't concede 3 goals in first half. Bizarre to play a full back instead. Left footed or not Fry and McNair should get picked to play over Bola every time in that position.

Worrying team selection from Wilder.

Was Bola at fault for any of the goals?

I can't say I thought he was.

Dijksteel, Jones and Steffen were the major issues for the goals.

Have we got a new Boo boy now Lumley has gone? :classic_dry:

Totally different game with a solid back 3 with Fry and McNair in it.

Can’t be bothered with catching up with 20 odd pages so I’ll unapologetically be ‘that’ guy

can anyone elaborate of the gist of what I think

 1st half.
Diabolical, couldn’t string two passes together. Midfield was absent

 2nd half

much better but give ourselves too much to do. 🤷‍♂️

If Wilder insists on playing this system of releasing the wingbacks upfield then he has to solve the problem of who is going to protect the centre halves when we lose possession. The best example was in the 83rd minute, we lose the ball in their half and our centre backs are back peddling, Adomah crosses behind them and only a deflection stops the fourth. Howson is trying to get back but hasn’t got the legs and the rest of the cover is nonexistent. This has been going on for too long now, either bring in the players to make it work or adapt the system to give us some solidity at the back and preferably not when we are three down

The goals all came from issues on the right hand side, where neither would have been, likewise neither was Bola.

It's a different game with McNair and Fry playing. Different decisions throughout the game, different positional play. They should be playing if they are fit to play.

akpom did well when he came on.

lenihan pmsl that kid is going to be bench warming for months now. no way fry will ever play as bad as he has the last couple of games. hes rather poor.

forss didnt do anything but socre that goal. but that movement to get into position for the tap in brilliant. connolly never did that sort of movement. its instinctive. he will score just need to get the ball into them central areas he'll get plenty of goals.

giles did okay, nice on the ball. quaility footballer but a bit weak going backwards as we already know.

mcgree, was heavily involved in the game and got caught in possession in dangerous areas to often. but he did quite well though plays which his head up and has good movement. not as good as tav though.

jones did well was our main threat really. second half he looked tired though running on empty and playing simple passes rather than try some trickery or to get in behind.

dijksteel, i think it was him who got brushed aside by willock and then got beat to the ball by dyke for his goal. reason he was subbed probably.

paddy, looked like paddy. wish we had a left footed paddy to.

howson was greati thought.

crooks, wasteful in possession and looked tired he got a bit of a run around.

steffen, absolute doyle for their second goal. though looking at the replay he did get nudged in the back when under the ball. may have expected a freekick. still he has to cut that rubbish out.

watmore did okay nothing special, bit unlucky to be subbed really. but akpom was an upgrade for me. we should keep him instead of signed muniz. spend more on the new big man.

bola did okay really, but is is so weak in the tackle and in the air, should never be played as a cb. though i'd rather play him cb than lenihan, he is awful so far.

-------------

next game: play paddy and fry from the start and we wont concede 3 goals and might get something.

We need a Hamza type who will sit in there, never get caught too high up, mop up all the bits and pieces and then give the ball to the lads who can play.

Not saying it wouldn't be a different game, just trying to understand why Bola is the one you're blaming for the goals when he did nothing wrong.

We've certainly conceded plenty of *** goals with McNair on the left.
