Some snaps. I really have warmed to that kit 👀

yeah I've always thought it looked smart, the blue is dark enough that it looks more blackish for me when you see it on the players, and the white bars don't really bother me at all, and the sponser never bothers me coz it looks like what I would expect considering its who sponsors us, bound to look like their logo lol

  • Brunners changed the title to Pre Season Friendlies - Hartlepool - Friday 14th July - 7pm

Presume we are using this thread for all the friendlies. Any thoughts on a likely line up for Pools and York games? Different players for each game or same players getting 45 minutes runouts?

That was my plan, I've changed the title to reflect the next game 🙂

Think it'll be split squad, so different players for each game

Will be a split squad I reckon. Won't be seeing a 1st 11 just now.

Could be interesting. Potential to see about thirty contenders and if anybody shines in tonights game, they might get a cameo at the weekend. Could see Dieng being at both games but too risky for the outfielders. Need to get spies in position to report on "spectators of interest" 🙂

Can't say the Suits Direct Stadium rolls off the tongue but I suppose there could be worse sponsors

Do we even have a big enough unit to account for 2 separate 11s in 2 separate games? I know we played in Portugal but you usually only give your first official friendly a 45 minutes each workout. And if that was for everyone this weekend, you'd end up needing 44 players.

I'm guessing there could be some crossover or they just won't go with 45 minutes each. I can see 21 fit first teamers on the website. Few kids mixed in with the group of course that I've seen in the pics. Finch, Sykes, Hannah, Bilongo, Sivi, Collins, Fisher... missing one or two new lads there I think too? Still far too few players for everyone to have an even 45 and only play one game between the two days, if indeed they are both proper first team games.

I would guess Dieng would get one full match.

Glover another.

I think Carrick said in he’s interview about Portugal that we will be splitting the squad for the 2 games

I know mate but splitting it where and how? If we only have about 30 odd players that we've seen in training and know are fit to play, then you're splitting that in two for two 15 man squads. You've got two first 11s across 2 games, with 4 subs each. And that means at least 7 players would have to play a full 90 in each game. At this stage of preseason that seems unlikely.

Something isn't quite clear here, I just don't know what it is. In the past, when we've had 2 friendlies so close to one another, one of them has been an U23 friendly, which Carrick traditionally wouldn't be in charge of. But it sounds like it's 2 first team friendlies which he is taking charge of. So what's different? Is it that we'll see players play full 90 minutes? Is it that we'll have players in both games doing different amounts of minutes? Will it be a first team group that's half populated with youngsters to make up the large numbers so most still get 45-60 minutes in their games?

Just slightly intrigued by it, is all. I'm bored shitless, I've spent most this evening watching back highlights from last season. 😅
