I know mate but splitting it where and how? If we only have about 30 odd players that we've seen in training and know are fit to play, then you're splitting that in two for two 15 man squads. You've got two first 11s across 2 games, with 4 subs each. And that means at least 7 players would have to play a full 90 in each game. At this stage of preseason that seems unlikely.

Something isn't quite clear here, I just don't know what it is. In the past, when we've had 2 friendlies so close to one another, one of them has been an U23 friendly, which Carrick traditionally wouldn't be in charge of. But it sounds like it's 2 first team friendlies which he is taking charge of. So what's different? Is it that we'll see players play full 90 minutes? Is it that we'll have players in both games doing different amounts of minutes? Will it be a first team group that's half populated with youngsters to make up the large numbers so most still get 45-60 minutes in their games?

Just slightly intrigued by it, is all. I'm bored shitless, I've spent most this evening watching back highlights from last season. 😅

The numbers will probably be made up from the u23/18 squads and of course we could see some trialists

they may start with the intention the team that starts will mostly finish the match, they can have the 2nd team on the bench and/or additional kids/fringe players. It's a friendly so no doubt there is no rules they need to follow

rather than the usual where the second team gets 45 mins after half time.

I'm going to both of the Hartlepool and York matches on Friday and Saturday. Carrick said he wants to split the team evenly between them, seemingly to get as many minutes as possible into the players. It'll be a good opportunity to see our new signings and academy players who will be supplementing the first-team players.

Regarding parking, for the Hartlepool match I was planning on parking in Morrisons or Asda near the stadium. I'm assuming that'll be fine if I nip in and get something basic from the shop. Or is there a time limit or any other weird restriction? There seems to be loads of parking close to York City's stadium so that looks relatively simple.

Don't suppose anyone knows which block the extra seating allocated for us is on the Hartlepool website. Our website says there is a few available to buy directly from HUFC. But of a last minute descion to go.

I think it's just mixed allocation mate. Pretty sure it was when I went.

Hope that a few of those who go can give us their views. Obviously very early days but always nice to know who catches the eye, gets a knock, scores etc. Apparently Fenton John scored both goals at Bishop Auckland so is now top of the goal charts. As always team news and any subs appreciated and thanks in advance to any that can keep us informed.
