BearSmog 1,686 3.7k
Introduction THE NEW SEASON IS HERE! It's the first game of the season and the OneBoro forum is full of optimism ahead of our first match against Millwall Last season ended in playoff defeat to Coventry City after Super Michael Carrick had saved us from the evil clutches of evil villain Chris Wilder. With pre season now in the bag we can get on with the business of going one (or two) further than last season and win promotion. Its fair to say OneBoro is divided on this.. "Rose-tinted brigade" "Bed Wetters" Let's look at some of the big talking points ahead of Saturday.. Who will score the goals with Akpom injured? How do you really feel about us not signing Giles? Will we make any signings before the weekend? Which forum member will flip out next and get themselves banned? Bearsmog's Thoughts I am still clinging on to some of the optimism fro last season. I have faith that Carrick has the ability to get a tune out of this team regardless of who we have in the line up. I will reserve judgement on our outlook for the season until the end of the transfer window. Are we weaker? A little.. but there is still time. It will of course rely on us keeping/replacing Akpom's goals and finding a new source of creativity, but for now.. I still believe.. Score Prediction Boro Millwall Over to you.. BEAR OUT! 13
TeaCider24 17,814 22.9k
Can't wait. I think we'll win, but only narrowly and I also think we'll concede. I'll go for 2-1 with McGree and Crooks scoring.
TheJew 3,651 6.1k
Very disappointed with our squad at the minute. Full back we are light, no Archer or Akpom means we are very pwderpuff up top as well. One of the worst windows we have had for a long time and I can see it being the end of Carrick as results falter. Watmore to grab a brace as we lose 3-0 at home. Denzel Zanzibar 8,037 15.3k
Bit worried about the physicality of this game and the fact we're missing Howson in midfield. Coulson possibly starting at LB terrifies me too, not gonna lie. We haven't won our opening game in nearly 10 years and I don't see that changing here. 1-1
OldManGravz 2,305 6.3k
2-0. Silvera and Barlaser. Dieng McNair Fry Lenihan Coulson Hackney Barlaser Jones McGree Silvera Rogers
Foogle 2,226 3.6k
We'll continue the tradition of a bad opening day game, we'll have a lot of possession and get hit on the counter, 1-0 loss and then our season is only up from there!

Steptoe 38 60
Big physical side Millwall , don't like either of our FB's against Bradshaw . Well light up front from last year , Silvera looks a plus 1-
ReservoirSmog 69 83
On not signing Giles - he was a vital part of our season and i am disappointed not to get him, but i do believe that even if we find a replacement that is even half as good as him, we will be fine Will we get new signings before saturday - no, but i believe we will 100% get a striker and a LB in before the end of the window Where will the goals come from - I personally think goals will be pretty evenly distributed throughout the team this season, even if we do get a proflic no.9 or chuba does stay. I do think we will get big seasons from jones, mcgree and hackney My preferred lineup would go something like this (brackets are who i think will actually start) Dieng Van den berg (mcnair), fry, lenihan, mcnair (coulsen) Hackney, barlaser Jones (forss), mcgree, silvera Forss (rogers) 3-2 boro victory, goals from Forss, Hackney and then a Silvera late winner, Jones to be involved throughout and get a few assists. Two millwall goals because i think their physical strikers will do us over a bit, but we 100% have the capability to score goals even without akpom/archer as shown in the amount of chances we created in almost all the pre-season games Whatever ends up happening... F**KING UP THE BORO❤

wilsoncgp 10,039 19.9k
1-1 for me, right now. We will have a decent level of control in the game but the attack is missing a big key element with Crooks and Rogers starting in the most advanced roles. We should find a goal from somewhere but I can't see us keeping a clean sheet. Dunc is a nailed on scorer for them if he's playing. Particularly concerning for us if Coulson is injured and we don't get anybody in this week. He's a decent enough player to provide us some defensive solidity on that side and we might well need it if Watmore is waiting to punish us in wide areas. Hammy legend 1,244 1.3k
I think we will score plenty of goals this year, not as many as last season though. I think Forss will top score this season with somewhere between 15 and 20. I am hoping for the defenders to score some this year, but not holding my breath. I have a feeling Hackney will chip in with a few. As for Millwall, a 2-1 win and its got to be Forss and Hackney hasn't it ?
