Boro v Huddersfield 1-1 (Hackney)

Recommended Posts

Thought we played well. Latte Lath looked a real handful, a couple of game and goals under his belt and he'll be slotting this 1 v 1s home with style. Silvera has talent but needs to be more of a team player. Was just shooting everytime he got the ball. Engel looked class. Rogers far more effective with a proper striker in front of him.

Read a few posts and decided to call it a day earlier. I don't share the negativity I saw.

Thought we were by far the better team. Lots of new players bedding in, once they get used to the system, one another and the division there's a lot of good ingredients there.

With a bit more sharpness and calm we would have had a few today. It'll come, I think

Reminded me of Woodgate's start.

Expectations. Our rebuilding plan is a bit like the UK pension age, it’s keeps shifting.

Think there is a decent team beginning to take shape, round pegs being applied to round holes. We did OK against an awkward team and given that there were two players who have been with us a matter of days, it was a much improved performance and if Sam had put one of his chances away, we would have deservedly taken all three points. Was baffled by some decisions of referee but he did try and keep game flowing so that is always a plus and only gave cards to those that left no other options. We are trying to replace five of our top performers from last year and that is not a simple task, so if we get a result at WBA, then that is good and Bolton will give us another opportunity to tweak things. Best performance of season so far and if ELL continues the way he started, think we may have picked up a bargain (hopefully without a buyback option).

If we had won, would people be saying we won but played badly? I listened and we sounded dominant for the most part, and quickly watched the highlights and we looked decent apart from a few duff finishes.

Carricks subs are still bewildering at times- both the timing and the subs themselves

We were the better side, I don't think there's much question about that.  It's probably worth saying that we were playing against one of the worst sides in the league though.  If Huddersfield avoid relegation this season it won't be by much in my opinion.

Well in fairness, we made a great start and then 3/4 of our major contributors didn't come back for the new season. I'm just saying I've seen enough that I'm not overly concerned yet with 3/46 games gone

i domnt think so, thay are a warnock side, they might look *** and have an awful side but they will get results. i thin kthey will be lower midtable.

They haven't go results so far have they, and they were lucky today cos even half decent finishing from us would have seen them losing their fourth game in a row.

Looking for the positives I think we saw an optimistic first half performance but when Huddersfield changed their approach in the second half we struggled at times. Their goal was fortunate but poor from Fry, had Silvera been coached in how to approach and attack the ball we would be mid table but I guess that's what we are buying now, potential with a lot of rough edges that need polishing.

I'd take Sammi away from training for a couple of hours each day this week to show him close up videos of how and where to strike a ball, body weight, angles of balance etc. He can play football but the physics of force, torque and energy etc. are missing. The good news is that it can be taught unlike the natural talent and skill which he clearly possesses. If he was the final article we probably couldn't afford him so with a few more refinements and education in not putting his laces through it every time but instead caress it like Ronaldo and we may have a diamond.

Rogers looked to be in his best position and made a few things tick. The Milkman up front looks to have bags of energy and will become a fans favourite for his application and enthusiasm, let's hope he can add goals to that as well. Engel and Rav both seemed steady away, Hackney I thought was hot and cold, up until his goal I would have probably hooked him. Howson showed why he's a miss, Forss looked lively and Dieng looks to be natures remedy to constipation which is seemingly what Carrick wants in a Keeper.

In summary and plagiarising the immortal words of Eric, "all the right notes, just not necessarily in the right order". It will take time before we see if things start to click and if we can look nearly as joined up as we did last season or if we are in Woodgate territory, hoping that the table is lying. Giving a Manager time is fine but as the saying goes time and tide wait for no man especially in Football, especially if we are lingering too long at the wrong end of the table.
