I feel a bit better about our result after watching the highlights from the QPR match.

They should have scored 5 against Ipswich, but bad finishing cost them, and instead lost 1-0 from one of Ipswich's only chances.

Looking for the positives I think we saw an optimistic first half performance but when Huddersfield changed their approach in the second half we struggled at times. Their goal was fortunate but poor from Fry, had Silvera been coached in how to approach and attack the ball we would be mid table but I guess that's what we are buying now, potential with a lot of rough edges that need polishing.

I'd take Sammi away from training for a couple of hours each day this week to show him close up videos of how and where to strike a ball, body weight, angles of balance etc. He can play football but the physics of force, torque and energy etc. are missing. The good news is that it can be taught unlike the natural talent and skill which he clearly possesses. If he was the final article we probably couldn't afford him so with a few more refinements and education in not putting his laces through it every time but instead caress it like Ronaldo and we may have a diamond.

Rogers looked to be in his best position and made a few things tick. The Milkman up front looks to have bags of energy and will become a fans favourite for his application and enthusiasm, let's hope he can add goals to that as well. Engel and Rav both seemed steady away, Hackney I thought was hot and cold, up until his goal I would have probably hooked him. Howson showed why he's a miss, Forss looked lively and Dieng looks to be natures remedy to constipation which is seemingly what Carrick wants in a Keeper.

In summary and plagiarising the immortal words of Eric, "all the right notes, just not necessarily in the right order". It will take time before we see if things start to click and if we can look nearly as joined up as we did last season or if we are in Woodgate territory, hoping that the table is lying. Giving a Manager time is fine but as the saying goes time and tide wait for no man especially in Football, especially if we are lingering too long at the wrong end of the table.

Agree with that

One thing that struck me from yesterday was that Fry and Lenihan were poor at bringing the ball out from the back. It’s early days but the young Dutch lad showed he had that in his game with his surging run in the second half.

Didn't see the sense in playing the last 10 minutes without a recognised striker. Coburn obviously wasn't considered, so a loan move for him and another attacking option on the bench would have made a big difference.

Enjoyed my first game of the season, sadly our finishing let us down again.

Listening to the phone in on the way home & they were saying we need up to 5 players in, which I was suprised with their folowing comment that they can see them coming tbrough the door

If thats the case then I can see Coburn going back out on loan, at least till the new year then we'll see

Hackneys goal was top drawer, their keeper who had a cracking game, didnt even move when the ball just whizzed past him

He certainly made up for the chance he should have scored from early in the 1st half

I still think we lack width, one thing we were brilliant at last season was making the pitch big, overlapping full backs that spread the opposition right across the pitch, this gave our midfield the space to play through the middle, Forss comes in side a lot and needs to stop wanting to shoot all the time, Silvera also played quite narrow at times..alot of goals came from wide areas, we haven't really done that this season, but I think Carrick will get this right when he gets the full backs on the pitch he wants.

Very encouraging first half although I thought the subs stifled the momentum we were just starting to build up, I would have held off another 10 minutes.

All in all, I think this team can make the play offs, 2 good loans.. I would really like to see a fast attacking right back who can overlap and get the ball in the box a defensive midfielder to give extra protection when needed.

UTB.

Utter state of this comment. Arsehole

Hopefully all the people who called Spence a nobhead for that tweet he sent to Warnock will be all over this as well.

Welcome to my world mate, except we play at least half a season without one.

That might have something to do with why we both find ourselves where we are marra🤣

I don't think there was a lot of sense to it.  Carrick is making some mistakes at the moment while he's trying to figure out how to get us going this season.

I'm guessing Lath was knackered, and Coburn is obviously not fit. I can't see any other reason he's not getting a kick.

That's not to say you aren't correct - Carrick's subs especially have been very iffy so far this season.

Really, we should have considered putting Nkrumah or someone on the bench, assuming Carrick would actually use him.

I'm really hoping that alternative striker is brought in this week, because Crooks offers very little.
