I'm guessing Lath was knackered, and Coburn is obviously not fit. I can't see any other reason he's not getting a kick.

That's not to say you aren't correct - Carrick's subs especially have been very iffy so far this season.

Really, we should have considered putting Nkrumah or someone on the bench, assuming Carrick would actually use him.

I'm really hoping that alternative striker is brought in this week, because Crooks offers very little.

latte lath was knackered, so was silviera. should have brought mcgree to replace silviera and coburn up front. to get on the end of things and be actually able to finish his chances. crooks is far t oslow and predictable to to pose a real threat in the final 3rd. he needs to be a deep midfielder and burst forward to get on the end of things.

The more I've thought about this game, I can't believe we didn't win.

Hackney, Silvera, and Lath all missed golden opportunities and their goal was a freak.

I know much everyone on this forum loves xG - we're 4th for the season 😎

Genuinely I know there's a lot of worrying being done by Boro fans atm, but we'll be fine IMO - it was much better at the weekend and I believe the goals will start flowing again soon. We'll be okay!

If Sammi had scored the winner ... Everybody would have loved his full performance and sung his praises ..

But he missed and now peoples' opinions are that he shouldn't be more than a sub ...

Imagine translating that into a normal work place .. Would you want to go to work, if one mistake, where you wanted it too much and tried your best, got you sidelined or fired or in best case in bad standing from the rest of the people in the building?

Awkward Season 4 GIF by The Office

Agree, 12 months ago Wilder told him to find himself a new club, a section of our fans wanted to drive him to a club that shows interest in him, then bang, the only time in his career he bangs goals in left, right & centre, great memories for Chuba, the club & us fans, think we have done well to get £12m for him, there was initial talk of £8/9m from Sheff Utd, thinking that figure would maybe go up by another couple of million, I never expected anywhere near to the £15m the club quoted for him

TBH, think people are looking at Warnocks comments from his time here in this, I dont see a problem in what he said

This just isn't true. I was talking about how poor he was throughout Coventry and Millwall. The fact he's skied 3 sitters in the last 2 games is just the cherry on top. He's not good enough at this level right now, there's a lot of work to do before he's a starter

Our system worked the best it has so far this season so I'm feeling optimistic that things are starting to improve despite the draw. There was much better link-up play between the thirds, with Howson's return allowing us to bring the ball out of defence into midfield more effectively and Rogers allowing us to open up Huddersfield in the final third. The pace of Lath and Silvera in attacking areas really helped us stretch Huddersfield and give a degree of unpredictability to our game. The main thing that let us down was our cutting edge with a mix of poor finishing and poor decision-making, largely from players who are still settling in. Fortunately them two things should improve as the team settles down and players work on converting the sort of chances that they'll find themselves with.

Silvera has been very rash when moving onto converting cutbacks in the box first-time as he's missed two very easy chances now - away to Coventry in the second half and very late on against Huddersfield on Saturday. He's got a very good first touch but really struggles striking the ball first-time. On Saturday, when he struck the ball he hadn't slowed down to prepare himself for it and instead ran onto the ball and swung a wild boot at it and, yet again, got his foot under the ball and blasted it way over the bar. He needs to learn to slow down, open his body up and get his foot over the ball a bit more instead of moving at full speed and swinging his boot so early. It's something so simple that it's easily coached fortunately. He just needs to concentrate and calm himself down. With a bit of composure, Silvera could even have taken a touch before having that shot, as he had that much time. I'm assuming the coaching team will flag it up in their analysis with him and put on some drills for him to implement it. There were other costly mistakes by others players like Lath not releasing the ball to Rogers when he broke forward wanting to be played one-on-one and his finishing was lacking, but it's only his first game so won't be fully in synch with how our #10 makes them runs. Berg performed well aside from a few rash needless challenges that gave away soft free-kicks. His passing seemed a lot better than previous shaky games, which is encouraging.

Considering our new model of developing our own young players, we were always going to encounter these sorts of issues of raw players adapting. They just need time to work on their weaknesses and have time to fully integrate into our system. Rogers was by biggest positive as he looked at home in the #10 role and is starting to look ready to push on his development. Our team is starting to finally take shape and operate with a level of quality in possession so things are looking a lot more positive.

Looking at our starting 11, we have lots of young promising players: Berg (19 year old), Engel (24 year old), Hackney (21 year old), Forss (24 year old), Rogers (21 year old), Silvera (22 year old) & Lath (24 year old). The average age of our starting 11 on Saturday was 25.2 year old. That's even with 35 year old Howson in CM. Our options from the bench were McGree (24 year old) and Jones (24 year old) so there's even young players beneath the start 11. It's not going to feel much comfort to some after a disappointing start to the season, but it bodes well for the future as a lot of our players have lots of development left within them. Once it clicks and we get our first win I can imagine us hitting a good run of form so I'm nowhere near concerned. When we come back after the international break in the middle of September I'm sure we'll be in a much better place with players performing better and also some new signings through the door.
