Boro v QPR 0-2

Recommended Posts

Hate to be a wet blanket, but I've done some stat hunting and the results don't exactly inspire confidence. I thought QPR had a poor record against us at home, but its not actually as bad as some may have thought.

Overall:    W19    D18    L22

Home:     W16   D4     L10

Away:       W3     D14    L12

Last 10 (H):    W5    D0    L5 (27th February 2010)

As you can see, recent results have been a 50/50 split. In those 10 games there have been 30 goals - 15 for and 15 against. How much more symmetry do you want? Hopefully our most recent result - a 3-1 win back in February, will still be in the minds of both sets of players, inspiring the (slightly) Mighty Reds to another victory.

Hopefully, if we stick with the same players and formation that served us well against Bolton (albeit with 2 very late goals to seal the win), we'll bag our first league win of the season.

At home this week, visiting parents from London, so going to the game

I'm taking my 8 year old to his first ever football game. He is incredibly excited.

Today he asked me, 'how big is the trophy that they win?'

I just hope we win...

And I think we will, it will be 2-0

I'm predicting two loans with us deciding to hang on to Coburn. Think Payero will go somewhere either on loan or a free. Don't think we'll lose anyone else.

Team, it seems that Carrick isn't going to move away from his 4-2-3-1 so I think the likely team is 👇🏻. To be honest, I thought McNair's performance at right back yesterday was one of the most dynamic right back performances we've had under Carrick. It's a low bar. I think with McNair, although he is flexible, it can take him a few games to adjust to a position. If he can keep up that level of performance, I would be happy with him as first choice right back for now. I thought Engel really grew into the game yesterday as well.

We don't really have a #10 but McGree has a bit extra about him when it comes to dropping back and helping out in midfield. I'm assuming Crooks is crooked but much though I think he's a far better footballer than given credit for, he's not a #10. Carrick will probably go with. I would probably go with the same 11 but lined up as a 4-3-3.

We really ought to have enough to beat QPR by the traditional 3-1 scoreline. If we don't then we'll be heading into the break in a pretty dark place with the social media grumbling having 2 weeks to feed on itself. Speaking of which

take him to the south side of the east stand. i sit there always a good atmosphere. not many moans and groans. i was in the family zone for a bit last game sitting near my sons buddy and dad and the moaning from the north stand was unbearable. kids probably pick up on that. my 12yo did, he doesnt want to sit near his mate anymore, he said if there is empty seats near us they should sit with us.

What a bizarre disinterest in tomorrows game do folks know there is a real nail biter going on at The Riverside?

After being on holiday this week I've just spent 5 hours reading through the worrying extremes of fan psychology on the transfer thread, bordering on entrenched emotive warfare for the most part, and I now need to lie down in a darkened room let alone comment on a game tomorrow!

I hope and pray that we get a win tomorrow to have a calming influence before the break, a draw won't cut it and a defeat is unthinkable. There have been pockets in games where we resembled last season's pretty passing and slick interplay so hopefully we get a little more familiarity and consistency against QPR. I doubt our defensive issues will be sorted as yet and for our midfield, while strengthened this week, tomorrow comes too early.

We need three points come hell or high water so I guess we are going to have to hope our new attackers all hit form collectively and outscore the opposition.

Maybe people are afraid they'll jinx Boro by posting in the MDT? We're all so desperate for the first win of the season, its almost like if we don't talk about it, maybe Boro will surprise us by putting on a brilliant performance? 😁

Its a weird one. While our last home game was a comfortable win, recent stats say we're just as likely to win as lose (won 5 and lost 5 of the last 10 home games). Scored 15 and conceded 15.

But Boro will probably do what they usually do and render any stats utterly meaningless by getting a draw. 🤔
