Venue

Ewood Park Blackburn

Saturday 16th September 2023

Kick off: 1500hrs.

Introduction

The wait is over and at last all Boro supporters (and perhaps a few Blackburn supporters) have a game to look forward to, ok maybe some trepidation but more than likely the hope that Boro can finally start to get their act together.

It hasn't been good so far has it? bottom of the league with only one point to show for it taking on the 13th placed team who have amassed 7 points during this seasons campaign.

Current Form

Blackburn LWLDW

Boro LLDLL

Last 5 away games at Blackburn

W (Forss, McGree) L D L W (Assombalonga)

Both teams 2 wins defeats and a draw

Talking Points

So many to choose from so going to let you guys dictate what you want to cover.

Things have not gone our way at the moment resulting in a negative outlook surrounding many aspects of the club and subjects being discussed within the forum that are possibly too early to bring up.

All I know is that our players need to man up and start competing against other teams and show some of the promise that surrounds each and every one, the rot has to stop we need a win and it is about time we got a win.

Good place to start and perhaps for the first time this season we can record our first league win allowing me to carry on authoring next game.

Ah we'll see.  I still think there is something there to work with.

  • It amazes me we had a two week break and the only tweak Carrick came up with was to put O'Brien lw, nullifying everything he's good at, just so he can keep howson and hackney together.

People can bang on about recruitment all they want but when you've got O'brien starting left wing & Crooks starting CAM that's just willful negligence from Carrick. He's got it all wrong all

I'm not gonna lie...the stats don't look good for Boro...

Overall    W40    D39    L62

Home      W27    D20    L25

Away      W13    D19   L37

Last 10 (A):    W3    D3    L4 (to 25th October 2008)

Historically Ewood Park is not a place Boro like to go. Results starkly against us overall. Recently less one-sided. Seems all our games against Rovers, both home and away, going back to when both clubs were in the Premier League, have been pretty close. Either goalless draws or decided by the odd goal. All our games going back to 2008 have resulted in 16 goals for Blackburn and 14 for Boro.

Hoping that Carrick will have made good use of the international break to whip his troops into shape.

Best scenario: Boro win a close, scrappy game 1-0 or 2-1.

Most likely scenario: Blackburn win by the odd goal...again...

Nightmare scenario: Boro suffer an undeserved red card and implode. Rovers win 4-0. Fans form a mob outside the Riverside calling for Carrick's resignation.

Given Boro invariably lose when I predict a win, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Boro are DOOMED!

What about a win & a cleansheet, now that would be an achievement 👍

Our record joint away league win (7-1) & record league defeat (9-0), while 7-0, 6-1 & other heavy defeats we've suffered at Ewood Park

Noel Brotherton (RIP) tore us to shreads one awful saturday afternoon at Ayresome Park

Dave Currie scored our consolation goal in a 5-1 defeat against Blackburn

I'm expecting the proper boro to return after this international break and us to start smashing the league again 3-1 Boro. Im of to Blackburn too so hoping we turn it on
