people always think its a good time for team to take 2 weeks and gel, where when you think of it for most them 2 weeks the best players are not there  , so not as useful as people make out I reckon, still gives a chance to draw a line under it  if the game goes well tho

I'm pretty sure all of them weren't there for a while at least as they had some days off I believe.

To be fair, it's not just about gelling on the training ground, sometimes the mental break from the pressures can do the world of good.

We have to be smarter in how we start games. We've conceded first in every game this season and 11 out of our last 13 competitive games - that is totally unsustainable. Really hope Carrick has changed something as it will be completely demoralizing to see us start slow and concede a crappy goal through one of the same old mistakes.

I'd take some of the new lads out the firing line - they're playing poorly and this won't be helping them.  O'Brien and Hackney have the potential to be one of the best centre midfields in the league, hope they start together. Greenwood has played at a higher level than most of this team and showed promise, I'd give him a chance.

------------Dieng-------------

Smith - Fry - Lenihan - Engel

------O'Brien - Hackney-----

Jones - Greenwood - McGree

------------Lath--------------

Interesting piece from EFL analysis. It shows that we're conceding primarily from our left. Our left back has been either Coulson or Engel so either they have both been poor or we are leaving too much room on the left. We're defending the right side, primarily McNair much better.

Don't think it necessarily means that. A goalscoring opportunity on the left could have come from poor defending on the right.

McNair cocking up v Millwall comes to mind. The goal came from the left side of our box, but the mistake leading to the chance was out on the right hand touchline.

I did wonder about that because McNair's blunder came to mind. Thing is, the reverse is also true; a chance on the right may come from a cross from the left. Bottom line though is that we are conceding much easier chances to score on the left than the right and that the simplest explanation is that we are defending the right side better. We know we tend to have a defensive right back and attacking left back so it does make sense. It also means that other teams are exploiting the issue.
