Systems and formations have to be fluid. But when things aren't clicking I've always believed in any business (be that football or actual business) to put your best people out there, and play them where they are actually best

Our conversion rate is woeful plain for all to see, ifwe had taken the really good chances our debates afterwards would be very different

The problem is that the 4231 just isn't working, the midfield is being over ran and our defence is bring left far too exposed.

We need to change shape to a 433 and tighten things up first and foremost, try and get a few wins either by hook or crook and then with more confidence be more expansive.

I wouldn't be against changing to a 352 for the time being either

If Carrick leaves now all he's got to show for is a failed attempt at a management career and will he have clubs lined up to offer him a new chance? Probably not in the Prem. Being a football manager means you have to adapt to the situations that rises and so far he's looking very lost as soon as there is a bit of stuff going against his team. Walking now would absolutely not give him much credit. He needs to show that he can turn it around but for every week that goes by I get more and more in doubt.

I've only seen the highlights from the game but it just looks more of the same. Giving away easy chances and failing to score. He's just had another two weeks to work on the team but nothing seems to change. A lot of what he does from selection, tactics and substitutions just seem so random.

If he's so disappointed that we sold Chuba for good money and didn't sign Giles that he can't make this team play then perhaps it's for the best that he leaves. Do we really need a sulky manager? I hope he can turn it around.

Re the speculation about McGree, my guess is that he's voiced his displeasure about losing key players to whoever it was who signed him and I doubt that it would have been directed at Carrick.   Any chance he's not starting due to an edict from someone above Carrick, although that to me would be a strange way to operate?

The faction bit that The Jew was talking about I could see as simply the 3 Aussie players being reasonably close, don"t think that would be anything out of the ordinary though.

Is there any evidence whatsoever that this is whats happening? He always seems upbeat and defensive of his players in all of his interviews. Seems like just something people are making up to rationalise our bad form

I was just going off Diggers comments that he was disappointed with broken promises. I have no idea whats really happening.

I would say at best what's likely is there is some truth to what has been said but it is so overblown and stretched to the extreme. After all, I'd say plenty of fans are disappointed Akpom has gone and Giles hasn't come back. I'm sure there's some level of disappointment in the club that that's how it played out. If the players, coaches or DoF feel the same in any way then it doesn't mean it's over before it's begun. It doesn't mean we're never going to win a game or finish bottom of the league. There's something very wrong that is nothing to do with disappointment on transfers if these results continue for a prolonged period of time this season. The squad overall I believe is weaker than it ended last season but it's definitely not bottom of the league weak, not even close.
