Regardless of how the team was playing, he couldn't defend one v one against his man, and their lad was able to go past him even when Engel had a headstart.  The fact that he also kept showing him outside was odd as well but he may have been following instructions there I suppose.  It's not usually what you'd want to be doing to someone who you can't keep up with mind.

Oh I agree. I’m not trying to say he didn’t have a *** poor game. Defensively he was all over the place and didn’t get a chance to go forward. But we have so many players struggling because we’re just not working as a team and tactically we’re all over the place.

  • Please for the love of god, losing Giles, akpom, archer etc doesn’t mean we’re the worst team in the league!!!! Dieng, Fry, Lenihan, Hackney, O’Brien, Jones, VDB, Forrs, McGree are all capable pl

He's not a League One player, come on now.  He might not be the best bet to play behind your striker but the lad has 18 goals and 8 assists in 2 seasons and 7 games.  He can quite clearly play at this

Valentine was just quicker but it’s also a lot more difficult to play in a team that plays like *** with no players really doing their job and you’re constantly pinned back. Valentine had an open highway to just attack Engel. There was no backup at all. An attacking full back in a team that plays like we did last year will look a lot less exposed.

If this is the kind of football that Carrick wants to play then I think even Giles would have struggled. We’d probably be better off if Carrick just did what Pulis did and play 4 central defenders. L

He wasnt just quicker,He was considerably quicker. Im not knocking the lad.He hardly has his suitcase unpacked yet. Im sure he will improve🤞🤞🤞

No argument there mate.  I had a quick look during he first half at some stats, which I don't usually do, but we were playing so poorly I wanted to check something out.  Sheff Wed had averaged about 35% possession so far this season, in that first half when I looked they had about 54% I think, and we are supposedly a possession based team.
