If we lose tonight I think Carrick will lose the vast majority of the fans. If so he toast. I think this game has potential to be the same as Leo’s 4-1 vs Wigan last season. Sheff wed are awful and their stats are the same as ours, the only difference is we know our players are under performing, I’m not sure about theirs. An encouraging thing for me is their defence is as bad as ours but imo our attack is pretty good at least in terms of creating good chances. I’m pretty confident that at full time we will come away thinking we could have had 6 or 7 tonight. It all comes down to how many will we put away and how many will we concede. SmogDane 4,139 8k
So ... The best thing that could happen tonight? What if we are 2-0 down at halftime ... ? And then MC gives one hell of a motivating speach dressed up as a bollocking where he shouts real loud ... And then we go out and win 4-2 Anaheim Mighty Ducks style ... GO GO GO ! TeaCider24 21,192 25.6k
Not conceding first would be nice for a start. It's a true rarity under Carrick.
Robin Johnson 2,144 3.2k
Stating the obvious , team selection is VITAL tonight. Not his biggest fan but I would start with Coburn tonight- Latte not my cup of tea as a goal getter yet!
Redcar Rioja 10,171 9.8k
It would be nice to come out and play with some intent and cohesion from the start instead of looking lethargic, even comatose for the first 25 or 30 minutes and going a goal or two behind. It would be nice if the Fans don't mutter FFS when they see the Team sheet an hour before KO. It would be nice if when presented with an opportunity on goal we don't have to have the ball returned from the Meadowhall Shopping Centre. It would be nice if when presented with an opportunity we actually kept the ball on target and in so doing avoided aiming for the Wednesday Keeper's belly button. It would be nice if we had a Midfield, any Midfield, something, anything that even remotely resembled a Midfield. It would be nice when defending we didn't have eight players in our own 6 yard box and three unmarked opponents on the edge of the 18 yard box free to shoot at will. It would be nice if we could string a few passes together as we break out of defence and actually show some speed when doing it instead of an isolated Latte Lath outnumbered by three to one. It would be nice if we played a formation that the Players understood and believed in. It would be nice if we actually looked like something was clicking into place rather than a bunch of Schoolboys charging around without any leadership, organisation or belief. It would be nice if we made some astute substitutions that really made a difference at the correct times rather than wait until 60 minutes regardless of how we are playing and regardless of the result up until that point. It would be even nicer if the Substitutions reflected who was playing badly and who should come off to improve things and not like for like, especially if we are chasing the game, oh and not to put Subs on with 5 minutes of normal time remaining because the likelihood is they won't even touch the ball let alone have time to make any impact. It would be nice to get a win but understandably the Coaching staff and Squad may not know what one looks like so a draw would at least suffice under the circumstances. And finally it would be nice if we go into Saturdays game at the Riverside without pitchforks and flaming torches outside the Riverside greeting the Team Bus. Not too much to ask for is it? 5
