Had a dream last night this finished 5-5, with us being 5-2 up with 10 minutes to play

Probably not outside of the realms of possibility either

How on earth did we score 5 goals unless of course Lumley was Goal tending in your dream?

What's the concensus on Rodgers? There seemed to be people saying he was playing well as a 10 and would have had 3+ assists if our other players could finish. Is he deserving of another chance behind the striker?

I can't agree I just put it down to fans becoming more irate after each non-win so something's GOT to change;

A % of the fanbase are saying Gibbo has to sell up

Another % saying Carrick and/or Woodgate need sacking

Others now saying the formation

Momentum is one of the most important and undervalued aspects of football so maybe the biggest problem we have as a club is the squad might be mentally weak? A lot of these players are the same players who went on the same bad streak last season under a different coaching and tactical set up. What's the reason for that? Fans then said 3 at the back was the problem and that they 'never want to see it again' only to be calling for it after 7 games of a new season. Just makes no sense to me especially after we've just signed a load of attacking midfielders in the summer more suited to the 4231 Carrick plays, not to mention that you can't just switch system...it's got to be coached. 3 days of training to play 3 ATB? Just makes me question whether fans actually think the setup is the issue or it's just...

NON WIN = CHANGE SOMETHING

Just like how Latte Lath's been told to f**k off back to Italy by 1 or 2 members on here because SHOT NO GO IN = BAD PLAYER

Was insanity that we came up against sheff wed defence and lath never got a minute on the pitch.

We have indeed just signed a load of attacking midfielders but it is very evident that at the moment they are either not suited to Carrick's system or are not yet good enough to make the system work. There again Recruitment may argue that the problem is Carrick in not being able to get them to work. Whatever way you look at it our results and league placing screams that they are not suited to the system Carrick plays or at least not yet but the question then is when, January, April of next year in League One?

You are right with "NON WIN = CHANGE SOMETHING", something has to change otherwise we will be relegated and long before that Carrick will be sacked. Relegation would seriously damage the Club's viability and perhaps even survivability long term. There is no promise that we would bounce back anytime soon so in the light of all that risk something must change. Doing nothing is relying on blind faith or hope which are never great options.

I just disagree with the premise that not ripping up the system and/or formation is doing nothing, I don't really see the need for drastic changes watching us tbh

I think our form largely is a momentum issue and players playing below their usual ability due to the issues that come with that like a loss of confidence and overtrying

Why specifically is it very evident that these players are not suited to Carrick's "system"? or what specifically is needed to make Carrick's system work? Statements like that again immediately smack me as results based analysis. The comments wouldn't be made if some of the big chances we've missed so far went in I guarantee it. Plus I don't even think Carrick has a set system, I think we played the way we did last season because it most suited the strengths of the squad. Like just as an example I don't think it's a case of we don't have a LB with unbelievable crossing ability this time therefore the system cannot work! I think he saw Giles' left foot and thought I think we'll try use that as much as we can

This whole recruitment thing for me boils down to a significant decrease in fan patience in recent years, mentioned a few times about so many completely writing off all our new players after only 7 games. Can't stress that enough that it is 7 games ONLY. Comments like "shouldn't have sold Bola" "McGree has to start" etc, these people literally can't even remember the dogs abuse they gave Bola when he first came or wrote off McGree as Tav's replacement when he first came, now another batch of signings wrote off

And finally...Relegation League One Relegated League One Players. Might as well join in seen as 7 games have been played and there's only 39 to go...Congrats to Preston on winning the league, will be a good game vs Paul Ince's Reading in the Prem next year

Again I agree about the formations, we could play any formation we want but if the players apply themselves as they have in the last few games nothing will change. It’s exactly the same as wilder last season, a mental thing. We have enough players who’ve performed at a high level to not be in this situation regardless of summer signings, they are all just severely under performing.

That said with the recruitment thing I think it’s more than lack of Patience, the likes of Engel, Roger’s, silvera have looked a mile away from what we need on a regular basis aswell. Dieng has done well, with Lath you can see there’s something there, same with VDB and bangura briefly. With the rest it’s not like you can say ‘once he irons out them few faults he’ll be quality’, the faults so far look like they need filling with hardcore and steamrollering.

BUT on the other side, if established players like fry, O’brien, crooks etc are looking poor and under performing then what’s to say the new signings aren’t going through the same?

Dieng

Smith fry lenihan VDB (Bangura had some late tests last night to find out issue. Trained today so may make it)

      Hackeney howson o'brien

Jones                                  mcgree

                        Lath

Hackney in the middle, Howson and O'Brien sit back and give us cover, Hackney moves up in possession.  Essentially the same 4231 in attack but more defensive cover. And no Crooks in attack.

If O’brien and Jones are in I’m wondering if it’s 3 at the back, crooks, howson and Hackney cm.

Was just presuming we wouldn't change shape. Hard to tell without the missing names mind.

We may not have I’m just throwing it out there. Could still go with Lenihan and VDB cb, if O’brien rly is lb I’d imagine he’s doing the ‘Giles role’. Is Jones at rb?

No idea, just throwing diggers names at positions. Think Jones as a Giles style attacking RB might be a Carrick plan, and if Fry is dropped is it VDB central?  If so, who plays RB?

No idea what O'Brien would do at LB.

So what's the likely line up then?

Jones at right back, VDB in the middle, Silvera on the right, McGree on the left?  Or McGree on the right with Silvera on the left?
