Watford vs Middlesbrough 2-3 (McGree (2) Coburn)

Questions:

1. What's your score prediction?

Thats a tough one. Current form suggests Boro have a chance of getting something, but historically we don't do well away at Watford. Agree Watford will be smarting from the Leeds result and will likely come at us full pelt. It will definitely be a much tougher test of Boro's newly-found form and morale.

Think I'll hedge my bets on this one:

WATFORD 2 - 1 BORO (if it goes as expected)

WATFORD 1 - 2 BORO (if Boro carry their recent form into this game)

Reckon there will be at least 3 goals in this game and Boro won't keep a clean sheet.

2. Would two up front be a welcome change, or will our tactical stoicism bare more fruit as time goes on?

At this stage I think Carrick should stick to what works. The players just seem to be finding their feet with the system he wants them to play. Changing it now would just sow more confusion and lead to us being disjointed and ineffectual again.

3. Who's your favourite academy graduate of the last 30 years?

Phil Stamp? Apparently made his debut in a defeat to Watford...

Overall  W15  D9  L18

Home    W9   D5  L7

Away    W6  D4  L11

Last 10 (A):  W1  D2  L7  (back to 4th November 2006)

Boro's "recent" away form at Vicarage Road is fairly tragic, with just a solitary win coming in 2012. Just the one 0-0 during the 2017 season when both teams were in the PL. Other than that a mix of score draws and wins by the odd goal. In those 10 games Watford managed 15 goals while Boro scored a paltry 6.

Statistically, to quote a certain forum member, defeat is inevitable...

But much will depend on Watford's "bouncebackability" and whether Boro can repeat their recent good form against much better opposition.

I really wouldn't like to call this one.

I hope that MC sticks to the Southampton side and builds some continuity and only swaps out the ones who are injured or struggling. Normally Watford is a poor hunting ground for us but they are a bit of an unknown quantity over the last few seasons so who knows what will happen.

Bizarrely I have a gut feeling that we win this 2-1 although absolutely no rational logic behind it.

Looking forward to spending time at the game with my son and grandson at this moment will take a draw just to keep this mini revival going.

Any one going to the game?

I'm more worried about getting tickets for the games at Exeter & Plymouth

Don't want one leaked either....In fact I'd rather the team wasn't announced until after the match...But I understand that's not allowed

Think we did that for the first 6 games as I for one didn’t recognise any of those players on the pitch from last year 🤷‍♂️

Bumped into Maddo this morning in Tesco car park on his way back to the Premier Inn.

They are also giving away free lucozade in watford Town centre.

Reckon the score will be 1-1 or sneak a win. Got to win here at some point!

Lucozade sport, or regular Lucozade?

This is important.

Missed a golden opportunity to ask him what his favourite crisps are! 😁

This is also important...apparently...
