Middlesbrough vs Cardiff City 2-0 (Jones, Latte Lath)

1. 2-1

2. Although I like Crooks,  he would have only been a sub for me. However,  at the moment it is his shirt.

3. That is dependent on O'Brien's injury. If he is out long term, we need another midfielder.  Although,  I have a feeling Barlaser will play tonight and have a really good game.

I believe Engel will come good we have seen others taking some time to adapt so no way will I be writing him off.

Big day for Boro and a big match besides, we have the ability to beat them and if we start at high tempo as we did against Watford then Cardiff will have concerns.

I hope for two things tonight, a crowd that gets behind the team and one that openly supports Yousef if he attends this evening.

Yousef, Yousef give us a song, Yousef, give us a song!

You’ve not heard his singing voice I take it??!! Besides that he is a great lad very well liked and respected by the majority of Boro fans. A credit to our club.

Dieng
Smith, Fry, Lenihan, VDB
Howson, Hackney
Jones, Crooks, McGree
Coburn

That's probably the most likely team for tonight, but I would like to see Barlaser in it somehow .. And ten the famous never seen duo of Coburn and Lath later on

Oh I have and he reminds me of a cat being dragged by his tail but you get used to it and as you say harms nobody whatsoever, Teddy my Grandson always smiles when he hears the dulcet tones of Yusef as he then is easy to spot!

I would rather see an actual left back in regardless of who it is.  If we're going to line up like that then we'll likely need to change our approach.  I don't think it's a coincidence that we didn't look as good once O'Brien went off, and he's not even a left back either.  VDB just can't do the same job over there.  I can hardly remember us attacking down the left hand side in the second half on Saturday, I know we must have done but nothing stands out, and McGree virtually vanished from the game as well in the second half.

If anyone is taking a banner in support of him tonight, please take the time to bother spelling his name correctly.

It's Yusuf.

There's a five minute break and that's all you take, for a cup of cold coffee and a piece of cake,

Badow dow dow dow diddly daddle, daddle da dow

In agreement here. I would rather see engel or coulson there. That said, I'd rather vdb continue at rb than Smith so I'm clearly a walking contradiction.

I think right back is ok because they aren't expected to do as much.  Even left back is ok if you're got an attacking right back instead.  At least in the way we want to play.

100% agree with this CT, we need proper full backs in that back four who have the ability to defend and the correct decision making as to when to move forward and provide attacking support. I think VDB has been very solid at RB defensively but you can see that when it comes to any attacking intent he is lost in a world of indecision, and as for O’Brien, just why!  As a card carrying member of the old full backs club I am thinking of reporting Carrick to the committee, surely we can find two fit full backs from somewhere
