This is the record under Carrick.

The best we'd managed previously was 2.

We've definitely never been solid under Carrick. But it feels like an avenue to improvements for us because we're not going to be able to score at the rate we did last season. There's certainly signs of improvements from the last few games, we don't look as easy to play through as we were the past couple of seasons, Carrick-ball in its final form would have us camped in the opposition half controlling the game.

Crooks looks a clumsy player but he isn't and he chips in with goals and assists.  He played through an injury . Pound for pound, an excellent signing.

On a separate note,  Dieng was very good again. He is looking like the best keeper since Randolph.

Is it a myth that we can’t score the goals of last season? We’ve got 12 in the 5 game winning run, that seems pretty decent to me lmao.

We'd have double that under Big Sam's total futbol or with Warnock's pashun I reckon

3 Clean sheets in a row, what is our record under Carrick? I remember when we were winless someone posted the "xG Table" and we were in the top 6 so perhaps this is just a regression to the mean, we're still pretty terrible at finishing though.

We're definitely defending with more intensity atm, even Barlaser looks like he's half a yard quicker and stronger in the challenge which is going nicely with his lovely ability in possession

Feel like there was a mentality switch before that Southampton game, the 'experienced' players showing how much they want it

Noticing Coburn getting some pelters and "needs another loan" on social media, admittedly poor finishing for the 2 big chances but played fine overall imo. Gives us an outball and can somewhat replicate Chuba's hold up play, i'll still bang the Latte Lath up front and Coburn just off him drum though

Is it a Boro thing or just the new age football fan to be so extreme in their judgement after each game? We've already seen it on here this season in multiple ways (looking at you Carrick Out-ers 🤡) but atm it's literally you're only as good as your last shot on goal. Probably always a thing but exploded in recent years presumably down to social media?

Hopefully Rogers hits the target once more next game so he doesn't become a League 1 player not fit to wear the shirt again, be class if Latte Lath continues as R9 come outside! Instead of 1 economy ticket back to Italy please as well

I’m wondering if we might finally see lath and Coburn together when McGree comes back in, bit harsh to drop crooks tho so a tough call.

Yep you're only as good as your last couple of games. I mean Haaland was getting pelters/fraud shouts for not scoring in 4 games or whatever.

It's a daft way of looking at things. You could make a similar list of excuses for all the games we didn't win - the truth is most games in this league are tight and come down to big moments on the day.

I actually quite like that lad but he gets a bit up his own backside with his stats and spreadsheets. Thinks he's got football totally figured out. Also has a bee in his bonnet because Watford are dog dirt this year.

yeah most games are won or lost because of a reason, its like saying a goal was because of a defensive error, its no sh!t sherlock territory lol

for most our first games we lost you can blame it on players trying to play a new system they weren't used to, injuries, massive churn of players, players being brought into the squad before they were ready to play, among other things

but I would not think you can really take them victories away from any of our opponents, they were won fair and square

there's is plenty of instances where these situations all align under previous managers where plenty of these results would of been losses or draws, you still need to win the game after all, and i've seen plenty of games in the past where a game was there for the taking and was clear to see we wouldn't score even with 6 hours added time

Right now, I'm of the belief it's the social media thing of presenting either one extreme view or the other. Either they're the best or the worst option for the team, there's no in-between. I'm sure most people are guilty of doing it when they're attached to those platforms on a daily basis, myself included. Twitter was good for certain things but in retrospect, I think it was always mostly a cesspool of extreme views dictating conversations and I'm glad to be off it, now.

It's not limited to football, of course, it's even worse for politics.

just bipolar parts of the fan base, social media gives them an outlet instead of it just being something they shout at the match or to their friends who listen to them lol

6 games always changes the mind of any of these fans to move from one extreme to the other

Anybody got any news on lenihan? Was out the squad Saturday but haven’t heard why?

So after spending the international break watching the Sunderland highlights every 10 minutes, I now get to dine out on beating Wayne Rooney with a last minute winner. Outstanding ❤️

Our goals-to-xG was awful before the recent run. This recent run of games has helped it a lot - 4 goals from 2.9 xG against Sunderland, 3 goals from 0.7 xG against Watford (source), but we are still underscoring our xG overall, and did again this weekend (source).

I think our finishing when we are at least 1 up compared to otherwise is miles better, I think its a confidence thing, as we seem to be far more daring when we are winning
