The last time I went to Plymouth was Mr Anderson's Cup game. Absolutely hoyed it down and a certain Mr Souness looked as though he wanted to change his mind about signing for us. Not a fond memory but enough to remind me that their crowd can definitely play a part in cheering them on, so not a game to take for granted. It is winnable but they will make us earn it if we succeed

1) 1-2

2) Our strongest available .. don't take chances

3) Home to young Barnaby, a well-known Hoe, popular with sailors 🙂

4) A lot

5) No

I resemble that remark OC....duly noted lol

Another trip to Devon but just a few extra miles further away from home will see the mighty Boro play the first competitive game v Plymouth in more than 13 years!

Plymouth's games so far on their return to the Championship W:4 D:3 L:7 while Boro have W:6 D:2 L:6  - All Plymouth's wins come from home games at Home Park so Boro, with only 3 away wins, will not face a walk over game this time.

Players to have an eye on: While scrolling through all the Plymouth players, only one of them was known to me: Mustapha Bundu as he used to play in the Danish Super Liga and I might remember Borodane recommending him a few seasons ago 😛
For Boro it could be worth hoping for Izzy Jones to have a good game as he has been on fire this season!

Hopefully Silvera can come on and play just as well as he did in the Mickey Mouse Cup v Exeter!

Q's

1: Result and Boro goal scorers?

2: Your chosen 11? Why?

3: Name 3 random facts about Plymouth

4: How badly did we miss Hackney v Stoke?

A little history for you!

Remember to participate in the predictions league - Quite a few missed out last round 😉

Result and Boro goal scorers? 2-1 Boro with Rogers & Greenwood with the goals

2: Your chosen 11? Why?

I agree with a few postwrs choice of team selection, strongest team we have due to others missing through injury                              Dieng, Dijksteel, Fry, McNair, Engel, Howson, Hackney, Jones, Crooks, Rogers, Coburn/Late

3: Name 3 random facts about Plymouth

My brother in laws dad played for Plymouth

4: How badly did we miss Hackney v Stoke?

Massively, even though games leading up to & the Stoke game we've had 3, 4, 5 players missing, we coped, but his position/game is so vital to us that I dont think we have anyone in the squad who can step in to his boots & perform to his standard

5: Are you travelling for this one?

No

I'm seeing people plumping for an unchanged team from the Stoke game and I'm sort of inclined to agree, which is odd given how poor we were that day.

Thing is, our best players from Exeter play in a position where the man with the shirt is doing pretty well. Rogers, Bangura and Dijksteel did well enough to warrant being in the conversation for Saturday but I can't see how you'd drop Engel, Van den Berg or Crooks.

Greenwood was really poor last weekend but his replacement (McGree) is injured. Silvera has done well in the cup, but he's struggled in the league when starting, yet has looked a really good impact sub. So I don't think you change that.

Jones has had a couple of poor games but Forss has been out.

So yeah, it probably would be near enough the same 11. Whether you play Latte Lath or Coburn.... Coburn with a couple of less exciting performances might ready to come out of the side for a game or two, so I'd go for Lath myself at the moment.

And obviously Hackney right back into the team. It's mad how important he's become to the side, and so quickly, but yeah we REALLY missed him on Tuesday.

Game Day

But a big shout out to the Boro fans travelling from Teesside to the game today especially those who travelled also to Exeter.

These guys have travelled 1450 miles thereabouts and a travel time of over 24 hours to watch and roar on the Boro!

Fair play to you guys and hats of to you from the whole forum

1600 at Home Park today we last played Plymouth in 2010 and have had seven games there where we are unbeaten by winning 4 and drawing 3

COME ON BORO make it another winning road show!

I'd have Dijksteel at RB over VDB, think VDB has been ok but has the look of a CB filling in at full back which is what he is, Anfernee is better on the ball and quite a bit faster, no brainer for me.

Would also be inclined to start Rogers over Greenwood, think he deserves it.

If I recall correctly Strachan's first game in charge of Boro was against Plymouth at the Riverside. We were all pumped up for a mighty Boro win, hopefully rejuvenated under Strachan with a lot of fans wearing Tam O Shanter hats with ginger wigs. Let's just say it was an afternoon to forget as we were beaten 1-0. Things didn't get any better after that.
