Why would we loan out one young player only to loan in another one that isn't even ours?

I think we definitely need a third striker but also think that Coburn needs a run of games which he will never get at us. Would rather he went out and got regular football and we brought in a player of equal ability who can have an impact when needed. Getting one of those is the difficulty but someone like Lankshear who has no first team experience and wouldn't expect to be a regular would be ideal.

But there's zero incentive for Tottenham to loan him to us in that case. For the same reasons we would be annoyed if Coburn went out and didn't feature, Spurs would be if they loaned us a player who was third choice when we only play one striker. For a promising talent like Lankshear, they'd only loan him to a club where he was either guaranteed to start, or at the very least the first backup choice.

I very much doubt we'll bring in another striker, when we've got numerous players who can play there, and are (possibly) loaning Coburn out because he's surplus to requirements

Finch till January will be absolutely fine as a 3rd choice. Burgzorg played all his football up front last season too. If we've struggled at times we can bring someone else in with lots of the season left. I'd prefer to keep coburn personally but can see the merits of giving him gametime if Conway arrives.

He literally has comparable stats to Conway who is the second coming of Christ apparently

Stats are only comparable if the situations are identical.

Conway was playing in Bristol City's team under a different manager, in a different system with different players to Coburn. I'm assuming most of his appearances were starts rather than Coburn's substitute appearances.

Either way I'm not saying Conway is better or worse than Coburn by any stretch of the imagination.

But if we are to believe what we are hearing to be true, then those that watch Coburn on a daily basis in training and analyse all of the appropriate metrics,  believe that he needs to go out on loan/be sold. The same people also believe that Conway, who they will have extensively scouted is a better option given our system and approach. I'm inclined to trust them at the moment because given our recent record of transfers and other decisions.

yeah we are more likley to sign another 3 players who can play across all the forward positions, like pokemon carrick got to collect them all

Asked about incomings wouldn't say anything as you'd expect, but had a massive grin on his face throughout talking about it.

So reckon Conway must be nearly done.

Hopefully as like @Fevs BCFC82said they aren’t reliant on Conway leaving to bring in others, so they will happily hold off to the deadline to sell him

plus helps them limit him getting other teams points too

The longer they keep him as well the longer he will take to play as he’s not done any pre season with them

yes but theyre also paying his wages to sit in the U21s right now, that's not money they'll want to keep paying, as minimal as it probably is in the grand scheme of things

I think Fev also said they are fine for ffp so no issue with money atm, I don’t think he’s on that much there

@DocMartinanything changed re Giles from what you have heard? Still as it was?

I haven’t spoken to my relative since the weekend, so no.

I have seen a poster stating that Boro will be moving on from Giles as per Dom Shaw. From what I’m told ‘will’ is a bit strong, ‘may have to’ would be more realistic. Boro would be stupid to not have a plan B and the offer to Hull remains as far as I know. Maybe Ilicali’s will cut his nose off to spite his face, but Giles value may only drop further if he does. I bet he is further peeved that Conway has said he prefers Boro to Hull and that might increase his reluctance to deal on Boro’s terms, Turks are a proud people by all accounts. He came to Hull with grand plans and fine words that somewhat backfired. The sacking of Rosenior seems an obvious example of his personality getting in the way of sound decision making and his willingness to shoot himself in the foot.

I seriously doubt Boro will give Hull to the last minute, so I can see plan B looking more and more likely as the window looms as inferred by Dom. Ryan himself wont be best pleased but he will be professional and keep his head down. It would not surprise me if Boro loaned a LB though rather than buy, keeping the Giles door somewhat ajar maybe for January, we’ll see, still time for lots to change.

theres like 2/3 more weeks of wages to go, he's come from their youth so likely not on much at all anyways like you say (which is probs why he wants out even more so if they just offered him a modest rise)

even if the haggling gets them another 100k guaranteed money or easier add ons to hit, they would still likley be up on anything they are paying out

chance they are paying some of it out regardless as a settlement on the contract anyways

i'd be fuming if gibbo sold up to someone like him lol

I can't imagine him sticking at backing hull for many years of just having these ground hog day seasons. maybe he gets lucky one year, but that is what it will take with someone like that in charge.

but I think if he gets offered chance to buy in to fernbache he might well want to cash in on hull.

Well, he came into Hull on the back of a disastrous previous owner whom the fans grew to dislike. He was going to achieve much. He threw a lot at it last season to be fair, but perhaps too late. His sacking of Rosenior seemed crazy then and still does to me now. He wanted to be seen as a hero of sorts but is finding things a little harder than he thought, money can’t always buy you what you want exactly when you want it (as we found out in 2017). The goings on at Hull show you why fans need to be careful what they wish for. In Gibson we have a man who has made mistakes, but has always tried his best for the club and so they have been honest ones.

This is why people who say pep is ‘only good bc he’s at teams with money’ are clueless. Having money in football seems to be so much easier than actually knowing how to spend it and tbh looking at our own experiences the more money we’ve had to spend the worse we seem to do. The best team we’ve had in this league since coming down in 09 was half built by Mowbray with absolute peanuts.

Even this team which on paper is a better team imo hasn’t exactly cost a fortune. The most expensive player in our squad is Lath I think unless I’ve forgot someone and according to a couple of itk we now have no players on wages over 20k per week which is crazy I think.

I feel like one of the more boring but most important things Scott does is he’s not scared to not spend the money. In the past it’s felt like we’ve blew money just because it’s there.

Have there been any actual confirmed sightings of Brandon Williams at Rockliffe or is it just speculation?

The lad seems to have baggage following him wherever he goes from alleged inappropriate contact with a 15 year old on tik tok a few years back (that he denied to be fair), failing to provide driver information over speeding that his father later accepted, a fall out with Norwich fans who taunted him when on loan there and as mentioned on here previously claim of inhaling nitrous oxide while driving. That list alone would be enough to put any prospective employer off him.

The only light in all this is that McKenna took him to Ipswich so clearly felt that he could get through to him prior to him getting seriously injured. Maybe there is still something that can be rescued within. Being dumped by his boyhood club may be the kick up the backside he needs to realise people are fed up with him and his ability maybe isn't as incredible as he perhaps led himself to believe.

If he is around Rockliffe then he needs to listen and learn from Carrick plus I would hope Woodgate would add his tuppence worth about doing stupid stuff when young and daft. He will either grasp an opportunity and pull himself back from the brink or end up a sad figure in non league bragging to everyone about how great he once was.
