I genuinely think my face is going to become permanently contorted with the amount of cringing I've been doing reading this thread lately.

I think we've all just got to accept Borodane suggesting Danish players 🤷‍♂️

Nobby bit of advice, don't be so keen to bite back. Joking apart, I've got time for you fella but maybe ease back a bit? Seriously, be for your own benefit.

Thanks Robin you are one of the good guys 👍

On O'Brien, I think it must be a case of absence making the heart grow fonder here because I don't think he did anything in a Boro shirt to have the kind of support for bringing him back that appears to be on here.  He was a bit of a let down to be blunt, and not quite at the level he'd been for Huddersfield, particularly without the ball.

Agreed really I don’t think he was perfect for the system we have and we were right not to make him permanent

He was brilliant for Huddersfield, had a really good spell in the US either side of not being able to get into a prem side who bought 40 players and a bad injury then struggling to get back to full fitness. I think there were plenty of flashes for us that indicated a quality player is in there and he's proved that in other spells with other clubs. His overall output wasn't great for us but there were mitigating factors and I think most people can see that.

I would have him back ahead of Barlaser like but that shouldn't really be the bar we are setting for new signings.

It’s clearly AI

I beg to differ, I cannot see any situation where the Honourable Mr Barnes would be linked to the phrase "Annoying Idiot"... or does AI have other meanings. 🙂. Have to admit, the Notebook is a guilty pleasure, though some are a bit obvious. Don't always agree but can usually see why they've been chosen and you never know when you are going to see a name you didn't expect. As others have said, don't take things seriously and you'll be ok..

If you mean his injury then yes of course that would be a factor although I don't remember him being great before that - again though the lack of match time could be a factor there.  Beyond that though, I thought he was one of the worst players in the side when we were playing well at the end of the season, and it's not like we went to pieces when he wasn't in the side for the last couple of games.  Perhaps I was expecting too much from him though, as I was quite happy with his signing and what he could bring to us defensively.  I just don't think we really saw him at the same level as he was with Huddersfield.

Well have to disagree there, there's quite a variance of opinion of how he played towards the end of the season. I liked what I saw before he was dropped in favour of giving mccabe more minutes. Would have rather we signed him on than extended howsons contract.

Well yes I'd have rather that as well but again I don't see that as an especially high bar.  For me, although I'd have to check, I don't remember his defensive stuff being as good as I remembered.  I didn't feel that our central midfield area was solid when he played, and I can't remember thinking that he gave much help to the left hand side either.  He did set a high bar at Huddersfield though because he was one the better defensive minded midfielders in the Championship.  I can't say I saw that with us however.

Thanks OC 👍

For anyone interested my report on Lewis O'Brien from when he was at Huddersfield

Nobby's Choice No.8 Lewis O Brien.

Great all action display from midfielder O'Brien who I've had in my notebook for some time tbh. Playing on the left side of midfield, he was involved throughout, tough tackling and comfortable carrying the ball. He broke forward at every opportunity and caused problems down the left particularly in the second half where he provided the assist for Rhodes.

Incredibly the Terriers captain is still only 23 and already has 121 apps for Huddersfield.
He spend 2018-19 season on loan at Bradford with 8 goals in 40 apps.

Mark my words, this lad will be playing in the Premier League very soon, quite possibly with Huddersfield.

Lewis O'Brien, he's in the famous Notebook
