Concrete interest from Ipswich who have a bigger chance of going down than staying up. MLS pay very handsome salaries he’d be getting 4/5 times what he’s on here

Benteke is one of the highest paid players in the entire league on $4. 4m a year, which is about £70,000 a week. He's a much bigger name than Latte Lath and had spent the best part of a decade playing in the biggest league in the world, Latte Lath wouldn’t get the same offer. I'll eat my hat if he goes to the MLS.

Hey ho we’re not going to agree, hopefully he doesn’t leave anyway much rather him stay here 👍
BoroSmoggie 3,713 4.1k
All well and good them offering him a higher salary, however the deals never getting done if Atlanta don’t pay us the fee we want. I can’t see £15mill being enough.
TeaCider24 16,196 21.2k
The entire wage bill for the full Atlanta United squad is £13m. Middlesbrough's is £31m, ours includes non-playing staff too, but it's still substantially more than theirs. That's us as a perennial Championship club. If he's in it for the money like you're all claiming, he'll go to the Premier League, he'll earn more and he'd have the chance of an even bigger move. Have we had any PL clubs come in for him though (since Ipswich)? Also, if they did, would he get first-team football, or would he end up warming the bench most of the time? I'd definitely see a MLS team getting him as one of their star players, one of the few they can pay big money for. Better wages and guaranteed first team action - why wouldn't he go? bmt 221 207
Seeing Latte Lath’s agent piping up every window as he has done, I presume he would be all over a big money move which would earn him a healthy pay day from Atlanta

But it could be the timing of the bid or any conditions attached to it, as much as the headline fee. We'd likely have seen him as a key player and while he's not replicated his form from last season, he's still been one of our more reliable performers. Now though, with Boro looking destined to remain in the Championship for another season, its at least possible we may be looking to cash in on a few saleable assets to rebuild. 1 minute ago, Swifty said: They’re around 10m short Quite honestly I don't see anyone, except a very desperate, relegation-threatened PL club paying £25m, even though he can be an absolute goal-machine at his best. Plus I think his value will have fallen a bit over this season. Clubs only tend to pay over the odds for British players...for some reason... But IF I would love to see him get a different agent as no one wants to hear things every transfer window. Will end up unsettling squad
