What makes me sceptical about the Atlanta article is why would an offer from the MLS to an English club be in Euros, surely it would be $M or £M?

European reporter. So he's using an approximation in his local currency for the report.

That's pretty blunt for a local journalist who is hoping to keep on good terms with his contacts at the club.

I think we often get this sort of rumbling locally when the journalist knows that the club - I'm this case Scott - agree with the sentiment. Scott will be worried that Gibson will think he's messed up with the squad he's given Carrick. Often the case that it's either the director of football or manager that gets the blame. Only at West Ham I think has it been both recently.

So I suspect that, as Scott said in the summer, they know this is a really good season to go up. And now only having a chance of the play offs is below expectations. The home form, as Wilson has stated, has been awful for 2 years. They will be considering whether Carrick is doing enough and developing as a coach in the way expected. They will look at other clubs who are out performing us.

My best guess is we get some minor tweaks in January to help out. Then in the summer if we don't go up Carrick and Scott have a chat about where it went wrong.

Are the injuries down to how we train, how we warm up etc. Is our home from down to quality or players or tactics?

If we go again in this league with Carrick, what does he need to further improve?

As things stand we are in our best mid season position for a number of years. Can Carrick do his usual and have a really good 3rd quarter of the season? If he does, can he then carry that on into the play offs.

There's a lot to consider and a lot at stake for Gibson, Scott and Carrick.

In balance, I think they give him until the end of the season. But they have to give him some additional resoures.

Carrick said recruitment is going well. Let us see what this week brings.

He hasn't gone anywhere yet. Clubs discussing option to buy on promotion. Sunderland have agreed, Sheff Utd haven't. Obviously he would need moving on as not up to that standard.

I want Doak to be sorted this week, as since it’s out of our control I’d rather him leave and we know and have time to bring a replacement in, as this could drag on to deadline day

If he stays, there's still going to be gossip about him leaving.

Obviously if he leaves it's better if it's sorted early, but I'd sooner he stays and we'll just have to cope with the rumours.

I just think as we get closer to deadline day teams get more desperate and will pay the higher fee which could easily mess us up, I just worry that someone will bite to get him in

So have we lost Jones and Doak? Do we have anyone fit enough to step in on the right?

Jones signed for Luton and a lot of background noises about Doak. I had mentioned Bournemouth being a possible destination for him and that's another club seemingly interested

He’s not wrong though. No point in sugarcoating something that’s not there.

Reality is we need to replace both ELL and Doak, the latter was never ours and was only ever temporary. If Doak had been poor nobody would be interested in him and we wouldn't have benefitted from his loan, it is what it is, damned if he did and damned if he didn't.

I think we need replacements lined up and in place now rather than wait and gamble on the last day of the window. Then there's the Keeper crisis, LB dilemma and Midfield issues. Of course the higher ups may have decided to play out what's left of this season, regroup and re-arm in the summer.

I've just said this on FMTTM. I think we might be looking at a bit of a change.

Get Giles in to improve output from the left. Get McGree back in team playing his floating role. Get a fast centre back in to play on the left side of the centre backs. Ayling back in as right back. We would look more like Carrick mark 1 but with Doak providing improved output on the right.

Makes sense of the Clarke and Edmundson talk. Quite a bit of change but perhaps gives us more of a balance suited to how Carrick wants to play.

So Giles and a centre back in. Clarke, Edmundson out.

Hopefully we can do one in one out involving Barlaser.

I think Smith and possibly Lenihan will be dropped from the squad meaning we have extra spaces available if we want to loan say a midfielder in.

There's lots of scope to adjust the squad to give Carrick what he wants.
