p_mards 1,661 8.5k
I suspect that us and Lath are quite happy to publicise the supposed bids from Atlanta in an effort to smoke out potential interest from Premier League clubs. They may be holding back waiting to make their move until the end of the transfer window in an effort to get a better deal and avoid a bidding war. Loads of Premier League clubs are without injured strikers and in a pretty desperate position to strengthen so I suspect some will have significant interest. If we sell Lath for big money then I won't be too bothered as we'll have huge money to rebuild with. And given our success in the transfer market at reinvesting the funds from selling Akpom and then Rogers, we've shown that we can take one step back to take two steps forward so I think we'll continue to grow stronger without him. Though, as we're without Conway for a few weeks, we'll need to have a good quality striker lined up to replace Lath in the short-term while we wait for Conway's return. It's a sale that has a good chance of blowing up our season even if the money's excellent, so it's surely got to be our record sale. Even if the add-ons were substantial, there's always the possibility that anything performance/appearance based might never be triggered. If Lath goes to the MLS, I'd put money on him being back in Europe within 12 months. He has age on his side and his stock is too high for him to see out a contract in the States. LinoJo3 4,958 12.4k
I agree can’t see Lath going to the MLS at all, yes he would get good money but it’s a complete nothing league. You can’t compete in any good competitions, for example if he went to Celtic it’s a *** league but he could still play champions league football. Mainly though it’s not much of a shop window league, like say he did go to Ipswich and scored maybe 5 goals and did well between now and may, even if Ipswich do go down another prem team would pick him up in summer. He could score 30 goals in the MLS and nobody would really bat an eye.
Tarmo Kink Army 2,023 3.8k
Does this mean the bid is 18m initial fee or all together now from sky
Borodane 7,456 27.1k
We probably also have to send a portion of the fee to Atalanta. I can’t imagine they have sold him to us without a sell on clause.
DocMartin 1,395 1.1k
I just can’t see us selling him for anything south of £20M + add ons. We will be signalling to anyone we are more interested in player profit than building a successful football team. Surely we hold the cards not ELL here. He can’t afford to throw his toys out of his pram.

I don’t think he will throw his toys out the pram as he will still give it his all till he leaves but you can’t blame anyone for probably wanting a move to 5 times their current salary

He can’t afford to throw his toys out of his pram. He’s 26 though and he’s not English. And he’s never really played at a higher level and only had 18 good months in the championship. Not a lot of players over 26 go for that kind of fee from the championship. I’m not sure I’d be comfortable with that if we were the buying club. SzilardNemethsCurtains 3,622 4.1k
We surely need to be asking for excess of £20 m considering it's the winter transfer window, there's no doubt his agent has been touting him about though

martonboro 544 554
This whole saga largely depends on what Latte Lath deems as important. Is it more important to test yourself at a higher level and push your limits (no guarantee of success)? Or, is continuing to play at a similar level that you already are but with a much increased wage (not to be sniffed at) more important? One thing I will say is that I watch mls a lot, and a common trait of many teams is that many of them deem attack to be much more important than defence. I think Latte would find a lot of joy, goalscoring wise, in mls.

LBP 3,856 6.2k
9th in MLS buying our star striker 🤣 What has happened to the beautiful game that I once loved?! We will never ever ever be an established prem club again.

That comparison makes the current bid look perfectly fair.
