I've said it before but losing ELL or Doak will end our hopes of promotion this season. it really is that simple. The way things are going anyway our chances don't look great regardless. Question is, will ELL have the same demand in the summer and if we tell him he's staying will he knuckle down? I don't think he'd kick off fpor an MLS team but if we get something concrete from a Premier League side again, i think his attitude could go south.

Could work in our favour tbh, if we’ve told him we’d be open to letting him leave in January and then demonstrate that by accepting a bid, he can’t really hold any negative attitude towards us. If the only team with an acceptable bid was  an MLS team that’s not our problem. The onus is on him then to knuckle down to get a better move in summer.

The stats are pretty similar championship wise, they sold in summer window and it was 2 years ago. 24 million euros is more than fair

Gyokeres got 21 goals and 12 assists in the Championship the season before his move. That's a monster season.

ELLs good but he's not hitting 33 goal contributions.

tbh sunderland are desperate for a striker, aaron connolly is their backup

Doesn't this present a fantastic opportunity for us then?  We sell Lath, Sunderland sign Cannon, and then we can bring in Connolly from Sunderland to replace Lath.  It's a win win situation for everyone!

If we sell Lath for big money then I won't be too bothered as we'll have huge money to rebuild with. And given our success in the transfer market at reinvesting the funds from selling Akpom and then Rogers, we've shown that we can take one step back to take two steps forward so I think we'll continue to grow stronger without him

Have we taken any steps forward?  We aren't a better team than we were two years ago.  It's also worth considering that some of the money was spent well but a lot hasn't been.

Just to break up the ELL talk

My Hull mate thinks they'll accept our offer for Giles, he's heard £2m via Baz Cooper.

Apparently he was at fault for Donnie's first, then the crowd turned on him, and he lost the plot a bit. Subbed off 5 mins later

Well in that case let's up our bid and get it done! 🙌

I'll be really disappointed if ELL goes this window. Not because it's a bad deal financially, but because we're losing a key player right in the middle of the season. Wait and see if we get promoted and if we don't then sure, cash in on him and reinvest.

Brentford and Brighton have shown it works. It just takes time for it to take shape. It’s getting nigh on impossible for a non parachute payment club to get promoted. I get it’s frustrating but when the accounts are released I think it’s showing Gibson is doing all he can to get us there. He can’t really do much more in this climate.

It's not nigh on impossible for a non parachute payment club to get promoted.  It happens just about every season.  It's certainly a challenge but look at recent promoted sides, including us, and it gets done regularly - Ipswich, Forest, Luton, Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford, Huddersfield, Wolves, and us, off the top of my head they all managed it.

I don't disagree with that but the contract situation and timing makes the price is a relevant number for me. ELL over a full season could definitely get close too but no denying how good Gjokeres was/is

Will be disappointed to see LL go but am guessing we would only sell if the price suited us. What some teams are supposed to have offered us before or other players have gone for is irrelevant.

As for season over comments surely we wait and see how the window plays out. I get the distinct feeling that Carrick and Scott have known LL is leaving for months now and have been lining up a replacement. Ultimately a war chest of around £25m (inc Izzy money) might just get us to the promised land after all. Well we can only hope…..

We can’t be expected to spend every penny perfectly, surely it’s hard to deny that our transfer business has improved massively compared to just 5 years ago when we had Warnock ringing his mates up to do us a favour.

The flops are out numbering the hits and the hits have proven to be pretty big ones. We may not be performing better than we were 2 years ago but the best players from that team Wernt ours and we had to rebuild purely with the money we got from Akpom.

Yeah you'd assume that since the summer they've been working on new strikers ready for this eventuality.  I dunno if we'll have £25m to spend though.

We have to be ruthless this year in regards to squad places, Jones already gone I think a few more fringe players need to follow him, Barlaser should be the next to follow him

I expect these players to leave

Dieng

Clarke

edmundson

Barlaser

Gilbert

de register

Smith

lenihan

Mcabe loan

You would imagine so well hopefully we only sanction the deal when his replacement is wrapped up
