I get that it is probably inevitable now but i really think the club need to get a ready made replacement before letting him go. Be an own goal with morale to get to say the last week seemingly scrambling desperately. Kone or Cannon will soften the blow

Definitely can, but it's going to be the biggest test of Scott's ability yet.

Assuming we do sign Travers after tomorrow night's match, we'd still need a midfielder and at least 1 striker at a minimum.

This. Scott has proved himself excellent at finding players who are great after a few months of acclimatising (ELL, Rogers, azaz, vdb, mcgree, burgzorg - though id argue he still hasnt found any consistency at all) but how many have came straight into the team and improved it? Argument for Conway maybe, and Morris certainly. But generally it's taken a bit of time to see the best of our signings. He can't afford that period if we're serious about promotion this season. They need to plug right in and be effective immediately.

I have serious doubts if we can do it tbh.

Be a bit gutted if we only end up getting what was on the table in the summer for him. Was hoping for something closer towards 25m.

We always get told how difficult it is to recruit in January because teams don’t want to sell their best players, especially attackers. Feels like we should be compensated somewhat for the potential impact it’s going to have in derailing our season and how much we’re going to struggle ourselves to get a decent replacement in.

Depends on what the deal was in the summer with ELL, did we say £20m + and you can leave in Jan?

If we don't Scott isn't doing his job. He's said in previous interviews that they have lists of players ready to go. You'd expect they'll have been making enquiries and progressing these deals well ahead of us selling ELL. Would be foolish not too, if we'd decided we are willing to accept bids.

Not sure on payment structure but wasn’t it reported as 20m full package offered by Ipswich on deadline day?

EDIT: Misunderstood your reply. Yes, suppose we might have told him that if an equal offer comes in this month we will let him go.

Part of me thinks the club is keen to sell Lath just for the simple reason that if they don't they'll just be stuck with an annoying agent who might create more problems than he is worth and unsettling him.  I know he knuckled down last time but you can't be sure he will this time if a reasonable bid comes in. And if it happens every window then at some point you've got to try and get rid when you think he will be at his peak value.

He said not long after the Ipswich bid that it was to late in the window to bring in a replacement, going on that he's now had 6 months knowing ELL will most likely go in this window & will have been searching for another striker, I have no doubts Scott will come good

I mostly agree.

I would push the boat out for Tyler Morton as he can play instead of Morris or alongside him. Can't see a purchase being an option but loan with option to buy might work out.

I wouldn't necessarily go for an out and out striker. If we could get a loan for Fabio Carvalho or Julio Enciso (at Brighton) they can play left-forward and Carvalho is also able to play up front. Same reason I would have gone for Zian Flemming in the summer. *If* Forss can stay fit and Conway is back soon then we would be ok but those are big ifs. Burgzorg has done ok on the left but he's more of a back-up than a starter while McGree is badly off-form and falls apart whenever someone looks at him.

If Doak goes, we have a problem but that's out of our control.

Reluctant to go for Cannon because like Conway he can only play one position and we run into the same problem we currently have. I think we need Conway to have half a season as our lead striker.

If the people with inside info that post on here are right, then we’ll be looking to recruit from foreign leagues, so you don’t have to worry about us signing Cannon.

I like the look of Emanuel Emegha at Strasbourg. Bit raw but just 21, scoring in ligue 1, looks to have good attributes along the lines of ELL and a lot of potential, but I’m not Kieran Scott so doubt my opinion counts for much.
