Maybe we couldn’t sign a replacement for ell until he had left the club and It looks like the deal didn’t go through until the last minute

Iheanacho wasn’t our best option though I don’t get why people keep saying it, we were mugged off for the guy we wanted with about 2 days left to go and Iheanacho was clearly the back up option.

For me this is a mark against Scott

It was almost guaranteed Latte Lath was going and our options apparently were…a striker in the Slovakian league, an unfit expensive loan who hasn’t scored a league goal in 18 months or no one?

Thank you for not signing us literally no one as a replacement I guess Kieran?

Fatnacho was off to Derby as well wasn’t he before we made the call just before deadline day, as panic as it gets

I just worry about him bringing an adequate replacement in for the summer

Surely there’s a new Peter Kenyon knocking around who knows the new Jorge Mendes and we can bring in his goal machine client who’s way too good for the league

Long time lurker and reader of this post and forum [I am a boro fan]

I went to slovakia a couple of weeks ago and ended up watching slovan bratislava (aka strelec) v spartak trnava

Anyway if he is a target we should pay no more than 5 or 6 million euros for. He was handy,  held it up well when he needed to, but wasn't worth the 9m euros we where quoted.

If we were to sign one of their players I'd much rather we signed rahim ibrahim, well rounded box to box midfielder who'd be available for peanuts.

Anyway strelec didn't shine to the level he probably should have. And certainly not for the price that club want.

I wonder if we revisit our interest in WBA John Swift in summer if we remain in championship. Out of contract and set to leave on a free this summer as WBA financial situation means they not in a position to renew contract. Turns 30 in June but on a free we might rekindle our interest.

Weren’t Derby after him in Jan, you’d think we would have asked the question but imagine West Brom wouldn’t have let him go at this point to a (dare I say it) playoff rival

Sorba Thomas would be a better option with similar qualities and younger...

2 assists in 19 matches this season for Nantes and comes on as sub for last fifteen minutes in majority of last ten games, criticised at former clubs for selfishness and poor temperament. Not someone I would choose, as he keeps getting moved on . He can cross a ball if given space but would be useless in our style of play.

Same was said about The Zorg and he's been excellent for us...

Come the summer if Lenihan is not deemed fit or part of the plans its essential we bring in a couple of leaders. We need a Leadbitter type signing for the midfield especially with Howson being no more than a bit part player if indeed we keep him another year. We also need someone that knows how to organise the backline. Lenihan I feel could do that but again that would depend on his fitness.

I think we have good players in this team but when things go wrong we have nobody there to motivate them or push them on.

Also Travers is more than welcome to come back.
