I wonder if we make a move for Callum Doyle as a CB option. Left footed CB who also an England u21 international

He has made 100 appearances in championship for Coventry, Leicester and Norwich in last 3 seasons. Norwich fans want him back on perm

He also helped Sunderland to promotion 3 seasons go.

He has confirmed he now wishes to leave City on permanent.

Interesting shout, there’s also wright from city who we apparently bid for. Doyle sounds like another inexperienced player but has around 160 appearances. I’d be happy with him, somehow he got 7 assists for Norwich aswell they must have played him at full back surely?

Oh yeah Norwich forgot about them

Another competitor

I reckon the club will know it's not feasible

A summer of Morgan Rogers and Micah Hamilton type signings surely?

I think Doyle would be great for us. Young but experienced at this level. Lot of Championship clubs will be in for him.

Wright is the DM? He would be a good option alongside Morton. We need 2/3 CMs.

I wonder if we look again at Glen Kamara on a season loan for some experience that we might lose of Howson goes

@LinoJo3. Doyle is a CB who Norwich used at LB but he not great at LB. A solid CB and plenty of room for development but excellent experience given his age. And I feel we need a left footed CB as well as got others who can play right side of CB.

Wright, Morton and Robertson + Morris I'd take that as our cm options, hackney leaves, howson retires and Barlaser sold.

He’d definately be a good option, but on the other hand, despite what people make out our cb slots are actually pretty full. VDB, Fry, Lenihan, Edmundson, whatever you may think about their performance levels/worthyness of a space in the squad, they are still there hoping for game time and taking a wage.

My point is if we sign another CB it has to be a definite improvement on what we have, do we risk that money on someone like Doyle or go for someone more proven?

Because we have a pretty good record developing that type of player

Carrick does, we don't

I don't think we're a better prospect than the likes of Norwich for next season at all, I'm sure those two would rather just go back there

I think we are less appealing than we were last summer unfortunately. We will be seen as an underachieving club that sells its best players lacking the ambition of giving it a go.  Need to make a statement signing first to entice others

That doesn’t make sense? Carrick is here and therefore ‘us’ surely?

Will we or is that just how you see us? Any player such as Jacob wright only has to look at how playing for us has benefitted Rogers, Lath (financially) and Probably Hackney now.

They will see us as a place they will get faith put in them and be allowed to play proper football, also rather than lacking ambition maybe we will be seen as a fair club who won’t hold back the progress if that big offer does come in.

Its ironic that you put that argument forward during a discussion where a player has apparently chose a club that underperformed even worse than we did, no doubt it’s probably ‘different’ for Norwich though.
