It was the 17th of May last season, the 23rd of May in 2023, so it could be any day now.

Norwich have announced a clear out of 13 players including Gunn

Yeah, that'll have been the intent from the start. That will only have gotten more solidified giving the sales of the attacking players since Carrick has come in, and I'm including the loans because it was under his system that they earned their valuation -

Ramsey - 12mil

Archer - 15mil

Akpom -12-15mil

Giles - 5mil

Rogers- 16mil (id say we've gotten the whole fee by now)

ELL - 22mil

Jones - 3-5mil

Azaz is probably worth 10mil now too, and Conway could be on his way to that with a second good season.

That doesn't happen if we're not playing an aggressively attacking approach so those praying for dyche will be kidding themselves. Well want to keep feeding attacking players, getting big numbers from them due to their role and lack of defensive responsibilities and getting big sales off the back of it. If next season isn't Carrick, it'll still be a similar style of play.

Honestly I think we’ll get more for Azaz. We will point to his numbers and say that costs more than 10 million and it should.

It is weird how people undervalue Azaz but if someone suggested we buy Borja Sainz for example you’d get laughed at and told we couldn’t afford him.

If we are still interested in Jacob Wright I think Wilshire being let go could help us, obviously depending on our own managerial situation.

Jacob wright has signed permanent for Norwich now

Personally i think it is part of Scott's remit to ensure we bring in players that suit a certain style of play. I'm pretty certain he mentioned this in one of his interviews. It's so we don't continue to "rip it up and start again"

THE GOLDEN THREAD

(don't know why I'm shouting)

I think this early summer transfer window could by quite interesting. If we sign a couple of players it will give us a good idea of the way forward. Let's assume we hear nothing from the internal review. Any signings would indicate Carrick is staying I think.

It wouldn't be free transfers I don't think as they will wait until the end of their contracts for bonuses etc.

The other side of the “Will he / won’t he stay” coin is that Carrick will remain a draw to many targets. For all our failings this season it is clear the players like him and want to play for him.

Let’s hope we get the players he really needs this summer

Let's hope they deliver for him then and let's hope whoever he gets he plays them in the right positions.

It is definitely one for his 'pro' column.

Maybe they enjoy the easy ride. Must be nice playing for a manager who shrugs his shoulders and says "never mind, plenty of other games" when you spaff a three goal lead. They don't come across as a ruthless group who are highly motivated to win - not to me anyway.

How many times do they saunter out after half time and get caught cold by a fired up team that have made a change? Dread to think the amount of points we dropped from players not concentrating for the full 90 minutes - defensive howlers, sitters missed, and leads thrown away. Every team does these things of course, but with us it's every week.

To be fair that's a good point in the overall assessment of Carrick's continued tenure.

It's a fact that players want to play for him and that part of that is his ability to improve and raise profiles.

Whether that's enough for the club to stay with him is debatable though, but nevertheless it's one key factor.

I also wonder whether Carrick has had opportunity to speak to a bigger club whilst with us, but declined to do so. That would carry a lot of goodwill from MFC towards him too.

This is exactly what I was going to say.

I'd love to be getting paid a couple of grand a week to do a job with no responsibility, accountability, or any kind of hard questions being asked of you.
