That's just a sign of how weak it is.

21 of the 24 teams have been ***.

The only reason they didn't cruise to automatic promotion is because there was 1 other team not being crap.

Lowest ever points total for 5th place, lowest ever points total for 6th place, and the biggest ever defeat in a semi-final.

Still doesn’t change that autos was incredibly difficult. Probably more than ever. And you have a massive favorite for the play off. I just don’t buy that it’s been particular weak this year getting promotion. You still have to win the playoffs. I’ll admit it’s been poor that we haven’t qualified for the playoffs but saying we missed out on an easy promotion is ludicrous.

Time to get rid off Howson please. We can’t keep relying on him every season

He’ll probably be third choice midfielder next season and end up playing in defence because we don’t acknowledge that fry can only play half a season and RVB has fitness issues too.

Wrexham are in for Lewis Obrien now

I'd have him back but think we should be doing better. We need a real midfield enforcer. Captain material. Someone who will take the game by the scruff of the neck and drag us over the line.

O’Brien would make for a good replacement for Howson tbh

Then can focus on a proper modern DM

Hackney replacement just don’t even bother, you’re not finding a statistical alien like that any time soon

Good luck to Dijksteel.

Was alright for us.

I thought so as well, he showed flashes of brilliance at times along with many examples of head freeze.

Do not think we ever saw the best of him and a lot of times I thought he could have played a decent role in midfield'

Thanks Mr Steele

I'd take him as a replacement for hackney, then a proper dm, and a random up and coming, Robertson, doyle or that Morton guy.

I also think he will be doing his coaching badges next season

If we didn’t get O’Brien after he was on loan and apparently really wanted to stay, I doubt we will now.

That was entirely cost related iirc? He'll be going into his last year of his contract so either they loan him out again and he goes on a free or they take a small fee and get his wages off

I don't think you should be putting Morton in then ”random up and coming” category given fee he will be going for.

Whoever he signs for at this level will pay a pretty penny for him and he is likely to be a starter for them.

One of the outstanding cockups of last summers transfer window was that we did not replace Howson with a proven Championship quality midfielder, instead we ended up with two first choice players, a reserve who was never given a chance and Howson who unsurprisingly was injured for most of the season. Now I think Jonny has been a great servant of the club, but his career is over, please don’t use one of our midfield slots on a player well past his peak

One of the many things that annoys me about Carrick is his man management. Djiksteel wasn’t ever really given a chance but forced his way back into the first team this season and actually played well for large parts. Then in March Carrick asked about his future and gave a pretty insipid response - kind of coincided with his form dropping off. Has done that with a fair few players over the years he’s been here.

Personally think Carricks man management skills are one of his key strengths. Players speak very highly of him, even those who leave. Has anyone player (past or present) even hinted he a *** man manager?

Not sure why people are getting worked up about Dijksteel.

He was here for 6years and played under 4 different managers but never convinced as a right back under any of them. Not sure how many chances a person needs?

His best form came in a back 3, wing back system where his clear flaws as a RB were afforded more protection.
