Look at wolves they had a horrific season and still managed to stay up due to the level of the promoted teams being so far below, I don’t think you realise how big that gap is and how bad they need to be

you’re bringing up Mbeumo like they didn’t have the same thing last year with “toneys gone how will they replace his goals” they buy smart and can get the goals from multiple areas

I’m not underestimating the gap. But Leeds are the team that will close that gap because over the last 3 seasons no club have been as good as Leeds have when gaining promotion (from an underlying data POV). So that gap should be reduced.

As for Toney. Mbeumo is a much bigger loss than Toney was. Toney’s data wasn’t half as good as Mbeumo’s. And the way Brentford play is perfect for Mbeumo - counter attacking football.

I think you’re underestimating what a big job Frank done and how hard it will be to replace him.

They had a ridiculously tough start (on paper) and rightly so sacked their manager. Then when the fixtures turned they picked up points.

They were quite good once the new manager came in.

So you’re choosing Leeds the same high goal scoring team that everyone thought Kompanys Burnley would be and stay up, look what happened to them mate in the prem, most people had them as the best relegated team in a while, so I think you are underestimating again

Yes. Leeds were and are currently better than what that Burnley team was under Kompany.

The data shows it. Even last season Leeds were the 2nd best team in the league and lost out to Southampton in PO’s. They were better than Ipswich and were very unlucky to lose out to them in autos too.

They may go down again, like many of the promoted teams, but there’s some teams in the PL this season that are getting weaker.

Brentford are without doubt weaker for losing Frank and Mbeumo.

It would be nice for us to sign some replacements before selling first for once.

Knowing the club they’ll think the replacement is already here. Looking forward to the first mention of Lenihan being “like a new signing”.

I’m pretty sure most people had that Burnley team to stay up in the prem, Leeds are coming in with a good championship squad against teams that have had prem squads for 4 consecutive years that gap is so hard to close, Leeds are still a long way behind, Brentford are getting 60 million for Mbeumo while still having really good attackers like Wissa who can still score goals, what we know is Brentford finished 10th when everyone said they would struggle to replace Toney this season and can probably outperform the promoted teams easily

There’s no guarantee that £60m will be spent wisely. What we do know though is that Mbeumo is their best player and he is a big reason why they score the volume of goals they do.

Wissa was also linked to teams away but will likely stay.

For Brentford to get remotely close to 10th without Frank and Mbeumo would be a hell of an achievement.

We’ve seen teams finish in the top 10 before and be relegated the very next season.

Brentford could well be the next team to do it.

There’s definitely a world in which it happens.

But there’s a world in which United go down next season, I think it’s far more likely wolves go down if you think Leeds will stay up, way worse than Brentford and have just lost their star striker and no guarantee that will be replaced, I think that’s more likely

If Rav does go, I hope we can get Callum Doyle for about 1/2 to 2/3 of the fee. He would be a perfect replacement and is left-footed but I don't know how realistic that is. He's got about the same amount of experience as Rav at this point and there's always a premium for Man City academy players but Rav's fee might be being a bit inflated by his name (see the Bellinghams) while Doyle might be stuck in that limbo zone of not being good enough to start for a Prem team but too expensive for a Championship team. Probably means he ends up going to Germany or France following in Cresswell's footsteps.
