Farewell to Jones. He was a hell of a player for a season or two. I remember the game against Derby (i think) where he set up two or three goals with the exact same move - sprint to the byline and whip the ball back in across the deck. Defenders didn't have a clue how to deal with it.

Sadly his football hasnt been at such a high level these past couple of years with his personal problems and losing a bit of his pace.

Best of luck to him!

Last year was one of his best. One of the best from a Boro winger in ages.

I apologise for my recent lack of contributions and enthusiasm of late but I was somewhat under a cloud of uncertainty. At my age the NHS invites you to do all sorts of things and one was to take

Remember the meltdown on this forum just 4 weeks ago about lack of transfer and ambition of our club. Just to summarise some of the utter shi*e spoken less than a month ago: 1. Our club has

Winning penalties don't count as goal contributions for some reason.  Personally I'd count them as an assist if a goal is scored.  I think he won a few in his first full season as well, not to mention put a few crosses in that ended up as own goals that also don't get counted.

yeah don't disagree with this and @Borodane makes a good point, he was still having an impact especially earlier in the season and I think defensively he's a real asset with his tracking back but something wasn't quite clicking which explains the lack of minutes. I do think a case can be made that our style of play doesn't overly suit him too and he tended to choose the defensive pass rather than taking risks. I don't think anyone thinks he's a bad player but I don't think it's harsh to say it wasn't really working of late

Fullkrug has just injured himself yet again.

West Ham will 100% be spending on a striker.

Is he going to be someone that Potter wants though?  Just appointed so arguably at a strong point in his relationship with the club.  You'd think he'd only be getting players in that he wants.

The 12 goal involvements he had last season, even without any penalties won, puts him somewhere near the top of Boro players for the past decade or so.  If you exclude strikers, who will generally get more for obvious reasons, it's only Azaz this season,  Forss the season before last, and Traore a few years back who have topped that number.  After that you have to go all the way back to 2014/15 to find players beating those numbers like Tomlin and Leadbitter.  Even on his down year Jones had 8 goal involvements, McGree by comparison had 9 that season, when he was apparently brilliant, and he played 800 mins more than Jones who was rubbish that season.

You can moan about my opinion all you want but Carrick and Scott seem to agree with it 🤷‍♂️

Do they?  If they agreed with your opinion that he'd only had one good spell here, and that came under Wilder, then why would Jones have still been here at all or been given a new contract?

Probably because he still had value so why lose him for free and there was the chance he could rediscover that early form he showed and the club persisted with him.

jones was a dangerous player and one of our best attacks for a couple of seasons. deserved new contract.

but he was a pretty woeful finisher, he cant shoot. i think carrick realised we need to have better quality in the front 3 in front of goal. why he probs will keep forss.

izzy is an outstanding wingback, but a wasteful winger. i think izzy would be fine in the prem in a wing back system. good luck to him. but its probably the main reason we brought doak in and dropped izzy to the bench.

But Carrick wouldn't just play him for no reason would he?  They'd have sorted out a replacement long before now if they shared your opinion.
