Can’t we just buy Morton on one of those dodgy deals where it’s basically a 6 month loan i.e we buy him for 7 million with a 7 million buyback clause

Why would they want to do that?

I apologise for my recent lack of contributions and enthusiasm of late but I was somewhat under a cloud of uncertainty. At my age the NHS invites you to do all sorts of things and one was to take

Remember the meltdown on this forum just 4 weeks ago about lack of transfer and ambition of our club. Just to summarise some of the utter shi*e spoken less than a month ago: 1. Our club has

Surely we can come to some kind of deal based on appearances etc, I’d guess Liverpool could turn round and say if we value Hackney at 12-15m why shouldn’t we ask similar for Morton. He got 3 goals and 5 assists for hill and played almost every game for them, decent season for a cm tbf.

It’s just the same as them loaning him out? Give him game time and increase his value?

They don't want to loan him out.  They want to sell him.

They are not going to sell him now though are they? Loan him and still sell in summer?

But if they don't want to loan him then they won't loan him was my point.  Presumably they could have loaned him out at any point during the window if they'd wanted to.  If there's a big difference between what we've offered and what they want then a loan would be pointless from that point of view.  I agree with the basic sentiment that it seems better for him to be playing somewhere than nowhere but Liverpool might feel that it would somehow weaken their negotiating position?

I don’t get your point. We can’t loan him cause we have 5 loan players, they cant sell him now for what they value him at, so a way around that is to sell to us with a buyback. Obvious advantages for both teams. He’ll be rotting on the bench another 6 months if they don’t sort something out

They don't want to loan him to anyone is my point otherwise he'd already be out on loan.  They are trying to sell him now.  They don't want to pretend to sell him and then have to buy him back in a few months.  When Villa did that it was to help their FFP position.  I'm assuming Liverpool's FFP position is fine.  I agree with you though it makes more sense to have him out playing for someone.

Who?

It won't be the last time

Might not be able to.  If we are past the deadline for them to recall then perhaps we are also past the deadline to send him back?

If he's injured for most of the season. It's likely we are still on the hook for the loan costs, but they may expect him (for longer injuries) to be treated and rehabbed by their staff. Then if any season left when fit he back here. Most loans ya carrying the risk of paying them still if they are injured , so if he goes back for a bit then it's likely a bad one. If its a month job I'd expect them to leave it to our team to sort him out

For Carrick to say it’s close then it’s pretty much done and they’re just waiting for the media team to announce it with a silly/funny video

I think the .media probs passed him doing an interview in the press area for him to admit it was close. I think it will of pained him to do it as well haha
