He doesn't have to come out and say we're now a middling Championship club for us all to recognise that fact. The last 9 years tell us that much.

When we're charging the prices we are then yeah he does.

I apologise for my recent lack of contributions and enthusiasm of late but I was somewhat under a cloud of uncertainty. At my age the NHS invites you to do all sorts of things and one was to take

Remember the meltdown on this forum just 4 weeks ago about lack of transfer and ambition of our club. Just to summarise some of the utter shi*e spoken less than a month ago: 1. Our club has

I'd probably take that too if there was a guarantee another was coming in but we don't know that so hard to say.

You know there can’t be a guarantee one will come in, but surely you can accept we want another one and are trying?

fwiw I’m ok with getting Bamford back, he’s better than Forrs and offers more. If he’s backing himself to come on a performance based deal then fair play. If we were throwing £7m at Leeds and begging him to come back then yea that would be ***, but it’s not like that.

Of course it won't cos he's a bit of a coward I reckon.  Nice and easy to hide behind a manager and Head of Football.

I think coward is strong. Hes a business man who has made a decision that means his "consumers" aren't getting value for money, but are so invested and locked in that he can make those decisions with little to no consequences. Its an indefensible decision from a pr perspective so why would he put himself in the firing line? Maybe its cowardice, I think it's more just standard business practise.

Has he done anything public facing since the Woodgate unveiling press conference?
Edit: I know he's done fan meetings and stuff, I meant something that was available and accessible to all supporters, like an interview or a press appearance.

Don't think so?  I know he had a chat on the phone with some fans the other weekend like 🙂

Just feels a bit mad tbh, Trying to sign Akpom when it never seemed likely, actively considering Bamford. Danny Ings.

Not what I was expecting.

Honestly mate, I think it's just testament to a club without it's previous spending power.

Look at the lower 2/3rds of the championship it's largely squads made up of players released or sold cheaply from prem sides with the odd signing for a couple of mill, all the mood music this summer points to us being closer to that than big spenders we have tried to be. In the spectrum of that, Ings and Bamford as players past their best but with quality are potential signings you would go for

If we sign him, we wont be signing another striker, hate to break it to yous. Not unless we get a buyer for forss which doesn't seem likely. No way we go into the season with 4 strikers on the books for one position with our current financial situation.

We absolutely will, hate to break it to you, or at least will try. Forrs contract is up at the end of this season and can’t see his wage being huge. To abandon bringing in another forward just because Forrs is here would just be daft.

Other people will know more about this than me but can you have purely performance/incentive based contracts?  I didn't think that you could?

zero hours workers?

I can accept it but feel it will give them an easy excuse to not actively pursue it. If we signed a new striker now and then added Bamford after my reaction would be very different probably just the timing of it

Well see, im not convinced.

I meant specific to football mate.  I thought I'd seen somewhere that you couldn't actually have purely incentive based contracts.  Could be an FA thing or I'm completely getting it wrong.

Yeah times are hard clearly. I was just hoping to unearth another gem in the Latte Lath mould. We have done it before so we can do it again.

But if the money is not there then maybe not. Tricky times.

The biggest issue with the Bamford and Ings players is that when they go we will gain nothing, I know every transfer doesn’t need to be for sell on, but for me while Conway is first choice you want a striker you can build up

That’s the kind of annoying thing though, Lath proved you don’t really need the money to do that, he cost us about what QPR have just paid for Kone, look at the guy stoke are getting Cisse, costing them £2.5m + addons.

I do still think (hope) we’ll be in the market for one of them though. I think once rav finally goes we’ll see a bit of ramping up.

You've missed my point. I'm saying he might as well just do it because ultimately we all know what we are anyway and it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Him burying his head in the sand doesn't change what we see with our own eyes.
