The Summer Transfer Window 2025/26 Season - FREEEEEEEDOOOOOM!!!!

Bamford off the bench is a good option. His movement is really good and he’s a natural finisher. Again, id rather him on a 1 on 1 than Burgzorg for example.

Conway I really like, I just don’t see him as the main striker in this system. He’s a runner in behind, where as we need a play it into type of striker.

Someone in the ilk of a Viduka would be perfect, is there anymore noise about Diakite?

I apologise for my recent lack of contributions and enthusiasm of late but I was somewhat under a cloud of uncertainty. At my age the NHS invites you to do all sorts of things and one was to take

Remember the meltdown on this forum just 4 weeks ago about lack of transfer and ambition of our club. Just to summarise some of the utter shi*e spoken less than a month ago: 1. Our club has

I'd rather Kieran Scott himself on a 1 on 1 than Burgzorg tbf

Yeah times are hard clearly. I was just hoping to unearth another gem in the Latte Lath mould. We have done it before so we can do it again.

But if the money is not there then maybe not. Tricky times.

Didn't he cost about £5 million? I think even those days of fun foreign signings may be gone or become rarer

No he didn't do well.  You see this is where I think people are getting it wrong.  They are looking at his goal totals rather than looking at his and our performances that came with them.  He scored some goals, those goals didn't lead to us winning much.  Now I'm guessing everyone will point to the defence as the reason for that but it was also because the attack didn't function properly with him leading the line.  It didn't function at all on Saturday but people are placing the blame for that on Whittaker and Burzorg.  Conway is a player who offers next to nothing when you have the ball.  He works hard enough without the ball but with the ball you just don't get that much from him, and that in turn makes the whole team less than it should be.  I think he'd make a fine player in a two where he wouldn't have to do as much but as a one he just seems to be lacking the general/overall game.  He's someone that could tap in 15 a season for you just like the goals he got in the friendly against Deportivo.  But the rest of that game he offered nothing, and partly because of that our attack stutters.  He can't hold the ball up, he can't really run in behind, he isn't skillful so that he get on the ball and drive forward with it, and he doesn't really drop deep and link play.  He's a hard working finisher, and I really don't see how this team is going to be good enough to carry that and end up with 70+ points.

I think that was exemplified in Saturdays game against Swansea when for me it was even more obvious.

I also agree with this as main striker. I like his work ethics and hes a decent 1 in 3 striker but I think we need alot better as we seen last season he goes missing in games . He literally offered nothing on Saturday and we have seen that too many times.

Latte lath created chances for himself and others

I agree.

Not sure if you watched but ironically long term boro target Emil Riis for Bristol City put in a proper centre forwards performance at Sheff Utd.

Holding it up, running behind, creating things for others. Really impressed. Surprised we weren’t in for him on a free considering we threw £7m Preston’s way previously, quite gutted too after seeing that performance.

If you’ve got a striker that’s getting 15+ a season, personally I find it hard to put the blame on them for finishing on x amount of points. The reason for that would be elsewhere on the pitch, maybe defensively, or maybe other attacking players not contributing enough.

Have to disagree, if hes getting 15 goals, at the most hes affecting less than a third of the games if hes doing nothing else in the other 2 thirds. Has to be more to it than just goals, unless hes getting 23 plus, especially as a lone striker. I dont think he does enough to affect our attack outside of being a good finisher.

Think it did rise to around that figure yeah. But i was and still am hoping to be able to spend that amount this summer on a striker

Yeah he was a passenger.  He was a passenger in a lot of the games last season as well despite the differing styles of play.

He was good when he had good service like most strikers, he had out of form players behind him for half a season, Lath was also slated for being awfully inconsistent, Conway to get 13 in an underperforming team is good to me and I think he’s good enough to be first choice

He was hardly ever good.  He just scored some goals.  One of the reasons we were an underperforming team is because he was in it.

Hardly ever good 😭😭😭 this has to be bait at this point

So now we’re reduced to name calling of other posters and slagging off our strikers again.

it costs nothing to have a civil debate. You might not agree with everything but there’s no need to go off the deep end.

For what it’s worth, I think the ball being hoofed forwards as it was quite a bit on Saturday will not suit Conway. Doesn’t make him a bad striker, just means we have to be a bit more intelligent with the way we play and try to play to his strengths.

As I pointed out with the stats the other day, even when we had Doak available, and we were actually playing better and getting results, there was a clear drop off between Lath up front and Conway up front.  Before Xmas, while Doak was still playing, we averaged 1.45 points per game with Conway up top, and over 2 points per game with Lath.  The latter gives you a shot at promotion, the former doesn't.  We were a better team when he didn't play last season.
