RILEY McGREE and Marcus Forss remain sidelined through injury, but Michael Carrick has allayed fears that the Middlesbrough duo could be out for as long as fellow long-term absentee Darragh Lenihan.

Lenihan underwent ankle surgery earlier this week and will not play again this season as he begins a lengthy rehabilitation process.

Like the Irish defender, McGree and Forss have been sidelined for more than a month, and neither player will be available when Boro return to action after the international break at Bristol City on Saturday.

McGree is still struggling with a foot injury, while Forss remains absent because of a thigh problem, but while neither is expected to be back for at least another couple of weeks, Carrick is confident it will not be too much longer before they are on the field.

“They’re both getting nearer in terms of getting back fit, but they’re not quite there yet,” said the Boro boss, whose side return to action sitting tenth in the Championship table, two points adrift of the play-off positions. “They’re still a few weeks away, so they’ve got a bit to go yet.

Intro

Now that the miserable international break is finally over, we can get back to the real football and watch the boys continue their promotion push. Our next match is against the kings of mid table, Bristol City. As far as grounds go, our record at Ashton Gate is pretty good, and we did draw there last season under Carrick.

Form and Table:

We enter this game with much better form than our opponents, having picked up 13 points out of 18. Bristol City on the other hand have only managed 7 points. However, they have changed their manager in that time and this will be Liam Manning's 2nd game in charge of the club, so who knows what to expect.

The full table looks like this:

Injuries and suspensions:

Boro:
Marcus Forss (long term)
Tommy Smith (out for the season)
Riley McGree (early december)
Lewis O'Brien (long term)
Lenihan (out for the season)

Unfortunately they haven't created a thread either so I've got nothing for this section 😞 will update when they do

Questions:
1. How did you cope without club football during the international break?
2. Now that Lenihan is out for the season, what should be our starting back 4 going forward?
3. Starting 11?
4. Score prediction and goalscorers?
5. Favourite thing to come from Bristol?

Could you send the link over for us to view? thanks in anticipation.

Hard game to call for me seen more losses at AG than wins and I believe I was standing next to @Uwe where we saw a Boro win.

Lovely ground very spacious and a good pitch just takes a really long ime o get out of Bristol after the game.

Will take a draw at this time but seeing as how BC's injury list is as long a ours then I do predict a winner!

1. How did you cope without club football during the international break?

Reading the excellent Exit Stage Left by Nick Duerden, watching Boat Story, and giving the wife a more regular pounding than she's accustomed to. Autocorrect on my phone just tried to change that word to "accosted", interestingly.

2. Now that Lenihan is out for the season, what should be our starting back 4 going forward

Fry and McNair until Clarke makes a comeback, when it'll be interesting to see what he can do.

3. Starting 11?

Unchanged from the last game.

4. Score prediction and goalscorers?

A score draw but no idea who will hit the onion bag.

5. Favourite thing to come from Bristol?

The cars. The 412 has a truly obscene bonnet, and it sounds like God just stood on a Lego brick in the dark, after a heavy sesh.

I have always imagined God to have a rather camp sounding voice, not something I would normally associate with the sound of a car! 😂

I had a detailed dream last night about tomorrow’s result.

I occasionally have these negative dreams and always feel if I share them on here, then it wont happen. So here goes.

* Fry gets sent off in 40th min

* Bristol take lead in 1st half injury time. 45+2.

* We equalise through Coburn in 62nd min and at this point we are all thinking snap your hands off for a 1 point

* Bristol score in 94th min and we lose 2-1

But now I shared my dream, hopefully above wont happen.

If it does happen exactly like that, I want the Lottery numbers from you for next week @TLF10 🙂

Went to a couple of gigs and a music quiz. Went out for a lovely curry on Sunday. I started watching Boat Story, but couldn’t get into it, it jarred stylistically with me. Oh and I varnished my bannisters, they are still tacky, 2 days on and it’s very difficult to go down three flights of stairs without touching them!

2. Now that Lenihan is out for the season, what should be our starting back 4 going forward

I expect Fry and McNair to keep their places. The fullbacks seem to have cemented theirs.

3. Starting 11?
Same team I expect.

4. Score prediction and goalscorers?

This one’s got nil nil written all over it.

5. Favourite thing to come from Bristol?

Rovers.

Looking forward to this game, I quite like Bristol after having a very successful FM career with them during lockdown.

1. Mostly just ignore the internationals, they aren’t exciting or interesting games to watch. The Cray Valley v Charlton match was much more appealing.

2. Same as it’s been for the last few games, it’s working well but hopefully Clarke and Bangura can push for starts.

3. Unchanged again, don’t need to change unless there’s some injuries.

4. 2-1 to the Boro, Crooks and ELL after we fall behind.

5. Google tells me that it was the Concorde.
