Saturday 2nd December - Elland Road - 3pm

Sorry for the late thread, time seemed to get away from me. I'll format it better tomorrow when I have some free time.

The Form:

The Boro produced an outstanding 4-0 win against Preston on Tuesday night, with Jones scoring two while Van Den Berg and Bangura both notched their first goals for the club. Boro actually played well in the first half for a change, sparking rumours that they wanted to give @BearSmog a bit of a longer break before he has to pause his fatherly duties to take over the matchday threads. Hopefully, they can produce another 3 points here for @Downsouth's birthday celebrations. We do have 24 hours extra to rest so let's hope we put that to good use.

Much of the pre-match talk centred on the lack of Hackney and Fry in the squad, and rumours abound on X (formerly twitter) regarding a minimum 2 week absence for at least one of them, to add to our growing list of injury concerns. On the other side of the coin, it was good to see Clarke get back on the pitch and Van Den Berg looked assured in the centre as Dijksteel gave a good performance on the right of our very makeshift defence. On loan Sam Greenwood will be unavailable for this fixture.

Leeds sit third in the Championship in their first season back after some time in the big league, 7 points behind newly promoted Ipswich and 8 behind Leicester. In their most recent fixture, Leeds beat Swansea 3-1 on Wednesday night, Leeds having a goal disallowed before a first minute goal allowed Swansea to take the lead until it was cancelled out by former Swan Piroe before Rutter and another former Swan, Dan James, killed them off. Former Boro player Bamford got 20 minutes during the game after replacing Rutter, while Djed Spence was an unused substitute.

Summerville and Piroe currently top Leeds scoring charts with 7 goals apiece in all competitions, Summerville having played one more game but also having 6 assists to Piroe's single. It's worth noting Piroe also scored two for Swansea before transferring to Leeds. Leeds are unbeaten at home this season, with 6 wins in a row after drawing their first 3 at Elland Road.

I've gone with the same team as v Preston although the Coburn v Lath debate rages on. I have a feeling Coburn may be used to hold up the ball against Leeds but Lath's running created lots of space on Tuesday night so it's a tough call. Aside from that I don't think we have any new injuries/suspensions and nobody coming back, although Carrick does like to play his cards close to his chest.

This is how Leeds lined up last game, and I couldn't find anything regarding new injuries or suspensions so I am assuming they will stick with this.

The View from the Otherside:

Doesnt look like there is a MDT as such up her, but you can find them predicting scores for the games here. I'll check later to try and find some proper discussion.

Discussion points:

1. Score predictions and team lineups - Will we see any more injuries?!?

2. As we approach the halfway point of the season, who do you see as our best summer signing so far?

3. Brian Clough or Don Revie?

4. Did you get anything special in your advent calendar this morning?

Poor Bangura doesn't have a photo, I think Carrick goes with Coburn against Leeds purely for his strength, it's going to be a physical game. 1-1 draw I think, which will be a decent result against the dirties given the form they're in.

2. Got to be Dieng as it stands, although Van Den Berg is looking like an incredible signing as well.

3. Cloughie!

4. I don't get one these days 😥 hung the kids ones up this morning though.

1) I'd probably go with the team last time out, but perhaps with Coburn up front to occupy the centre backs more. That said, neither of them are particularly quick, so Latte Lath isn't a bad choice either with his pace. I feel like starting with Coburn and bringing Latte Lath on around 60 minutes would be a good balance.

2) Dieng for me, though van den Burg is probably going to turn out to be a proper player.

3) Cloughie!

4) I have a Brewdog advent calendar, and my treat for today is spoiler alert! Thoroughly looking forward to this one!

I looked at the Brewdog one, I instead chose O'Donnell's Moonshine

guys need to take the blinkers off here. who are leeds? they are not some super team that will hammer us. they are just a decent champo team with a pacy front line. they are there to be got at. we are more than capable of getting a result there. If we turn up, which we will btw.

I predict a boro away win 3-1. piroe for them, he normally gets  one against us doesn't he.

after this win for the mighty Boro, Leeds wheels will fall off and we can get the picture of the leeds bus out again. Happy days

I think we go again with who we put on Tuesday night unless a few are back from injury and there's no way of knowing that as the Club keep those cards very close to their chest. I think it will be an ill mannered and nasty 2-2.

2. As we approach the halfway point of the season, who do you see as our best summer signing so far?

Best signing has to be Dieng, I personally rated him as a 5/10 at best but have to admit he's a regular and consistent 8/10.

3. Brian Clough or Don Revie?

Cloughie for me, a character, gobs#1te and very shrewd. Revie just oozed smarm.

4. Did you get anything special in your advent calendar this morning?

Beggar all.

Biggest game of the season this for me we have to play with no fear and take the game to Leeds. We've beaten the other two ex Premier league sides so time to complete the hatrick and lower Leeds colours. I do expect a high scoring game though with us coming out on top 3-2.
