Boro V Hull 1-2 (Latte Lath)

Recommended Posts

Malcolm Poskett played the least number of minutes on the pitch as a Boro player when he replaced Malcolm Smith with 13 minutes remaining on the 13th October 1974, in our 2nd division home match against Hul City, a day before my 14th birthday

Boro won the game 1-0 with a goal from Malcolm Smith

Would you put Izzy and big Anf' straight back in?

Definitely, without Izzy on Saturday we looked totally devoid of pace and threat from the right and Crooks looked like Ant without Dec. Need to rest Clarke and that means RVB back at CB so Dijksteel comes back for me. The only way Dijksteel will lose the rust is to get him playing.

What other changes would you like to see?

I'd like to see us get at teams from the off and not wait until the second half, I'd like to see us close opponents down quicker so they don't have as mush space and time to pick out this week's Worldy. I'd like to see some Leadership out on the pitch, some drive and tough talking from someone, anyone!

How many points do you see us picking up between now and New Years Day?

Absolutely no idea as it depends upon injury recovery rates and avoidance of fresh injuries. There are far too many Players mysteriously disappearing due to pulls and strains, something isn't right regarding fitness, conditioning, warm ups, warm downs etc. There is also far too much data and analysis available in the game for this to be just bad luck.

Jones definitely. Dijksteel, it depends on whether Clarke is fit enough to play two games in a row. I don't like RVDB at right back but I think Dijksteel takes too many games to get up to speed and is a liability in the meantime.

Personally, and I know Carrick won't do this unless his hand is forced, I would bring Howson to right back and drop Crooks into midfield. I would like to see Greenwood get a run of games as a #10. I think Howson is important to us but I'm not convinced he has what it takes to run a midfield anymore. I think he can play the "inverted fullback" role will enough and possibly could see out the season there with Hackney & O'Brien as the first choice midfield pair. Against Ipswich we really struggled for pace; I think Jones and Bangura can bring that back. I'm assuming that Coburn is out in all but name so we stick with Latte Lath.

I would also like us to commit to a defensive 4-3-3. It's very similar to 4-2-3-1 and we sort of play a hybrid of it but I get the feeling that Carrick is going through a patch of overcomplicating things and asking too much of a team that is missing too many players. One issue that Carrick seems to have is that he doesn't seem to know how to make the most of pace in his team beyond knocking the ball down the channel for a speedy #9 to chase.

Ipswich winning, which is good.

West Brom, Blackburn and Preston winning, which is bad.

Sunderland are drawing, which is better than them winning.

Sam Morsy with the go ahead goal as well.

There's part of me that's really happy to see him thriving with Ipswich, and part of me that's very annoyed we misused him so badly lol
