Possession and stats like xG don't win games unfortunately.

The only stats that matter for results are goals but these are stats which can point to things that show how the game was played, though. We had all of the ball and all of the chances. We lost to a fluke goal and didn't take our best chances. That's not a sign of a bad performance all-round. It wasn't great but it definitely wasn't bad. They were pretty hard to break down and weren't even playing to attack our goal for 90% of the game but we still broke them down on a few occasions.

In terms of our xG so far this season, it's pretty closely tracked by the actual number of goals we've scored too, which means it's not too bad a metric for us. Defensively it's where those numbers don't add up and I don't think that's much of a shock to anyone, we're underperforming and conceding more goals than we should. Today's goal will certainly not help those statistics!

Rogers also disappointing today when we need good performances we can not allow at least 4 players to have a bad day

Yeah,Rogers very poor today

What was the point in bringing crooks on the 90th minute they should of been brough on alot sooner. It is a big flaw of Carricks management the time he takes to make subs bring the players on so they have chance of an impact.

Another stat I’ve just seen is that we’ve missed the most ‘big chances’ in the league at 41. Leicester second with 40 missed.

Is it worth agreeing to the rumoured amount for Greenwood? I am currently of the opinion that the money is worth a gamble somewhere else...

Not yet. His all round game isn’t good enough and when not scoring offers pretty much nothing in terms of build up and getting involved. I’ve had this opinion all season. Many people got a bit carried away with his free kick. Still young tho and we don’t have to decide yet

Rotherham's only "shot" being accidentally on target summed up today.

We seriously need to strengthen in January because this set of players are not going to get us promoted.

Well yes, but hackney, Latth and McGree from the start would have done wonders. Not that Howson was bad but hackney is a bigger presence around the box. Getting Silvera and Greenwood off the starting 11 wouldn’t be bad either. McGree would have scored one of the Greenwood chances I reckon.
Today was a fluke loss.

How does Carrick make his players score those chances that we keep creating through his tactics? He can only work with the tools he has. He doesn't have a fit striker.

For one he should have hooked Greenwood at half time and Silvera far earlier in the second half. It doesn't take a Striker to hit a target, he has 9 Players on the bench, why put Kav on with just seconds left, is he less accurate than Greenwood or Silvera when shooting? Greenwood's finishing and choices in possession has been poor for a while now.

We were totally dominant except we didn't have a player who can be composed when shooting. I have no idea if Kav would have made a difference but I knew from watching what was going on that we were awful in the opposition box. Trying something different when the same old, same old just wasn't working is what frustrates me with him. Against a side like Rotherham throwing Kav on with at least 30 minutes wouldn't have exactly weakened our side.

The 1.5 million fee isn’t the problem. That would be ok. He is only 21 after all. It’s his rumoured wages that are the problem. He’d need to be around squad wages for it to be ok, but if he’s really on 20+k then it’s a no go. I’d expect him to want to be first choice too. Or else he might just stay at Leeds. Currently he isn’t good enough to justify those wages and being first choice.

I wouldn’t say Roger’s was ‘very poor’ but he was in and out of the game. Exactly the kind of performance I pointed out when people were suggesting we don’t need a #10 and should play rogers after Saturdays game.

This kind of performance is exactly what we should expect given the players we chose to buy in summer. As I’ve said a hundred times this season we have way too many ‘hot and cold’ players and not enough consistent and proven ‘McGree type’ of players in our front 4.

As for people blaming Carrick it’s just pathetic, we dominated the game, dominated possession, created chances galore and barely had a shot to face. I thought we actually played pretty well and Carrick can’t be faulted at all. He set the team up in a way that led us to create 3 or 4 glorious chances plus a stone wall penalty and we should have won 3-0 minimum, the players failed when it mattered.

There have been a few pathetic reactions to this game tbf including someone calling greenwood a ‘donkey toothed mackem’. Chill out ffs.

Officials in general, accepting everything and never taking exception with Officials isn't doing him any favours. Some of the games most successful Managers seem to have it down to an art form. Plying under Fergie and Mourinho I'm surprised that he hasn't learnt the dark arts.

I think its one of those things you have to earn the right to do...or else forge an intimidating reputation. Neither of which Carrick has done yet.

Its one thing to have a go at officials when you're a world-class manager who's won lots of trophies and are managing at a big club.

If Carrick did it it would be like one of those annoying lap-dogs yapping at you from someone's handbag. All he'd get for his troubles is a fine and a reprimand.

I agree on current form he is eminently replaceable. I don't think we would miss him that much.

All season Carrick's use of subs has been woeful. He needs an old head to give him in game advice.

How is wasting chance after chance Carricks fault?

His selections, his lack of a half time rollicking, his lack of substitutions, his lack of a Plan B.

He's the Coach it's up to him. If those chances were put away and we were awarded the penalty and won 5-0 would that have been down to him or just Carrick being lucky? It cuts both ways.
