I think with Birmingham game now postponed and with us having this week spare it will change how we otherwise would have lined up v Roterham.

Think Carrick will take a measures risk on playing certain players in both games which he might not have had faced Birmingham too.

I can see Howson and Jones possibly being rested. Forss I dont think is ready to start a game but might get longer off the bench than the 9 mins he did v Millwall.

Glover

Ayling Fry VDB Engel

Hackney Barlaser

Rogers Azaz Greenwood

Crooks

* without sounding arrogant, I can see Rogers and Crooks coming off in the hour mark for Jones and Forss

That’s the team I think too. With Forss and O’Brien getting more minutes off the bench.

We have a massive game coming up. But we need to stay focused. We are a long way from the top 4. And I expect Coventry and West Brom to win. Cannot afford to get distracted by the cup game.

True - but easier said than done. I'd be surprised if the players didn't at least have the Chelsea game in the back of their minds. Just human nature.

yeah would love to see O'brien coming off the bench, part of me wondered if he was on the bench vs millwall just incase of a dire emergency if he wasn't 100% ready yet and/or just to be part of the squad

dying to see him come on even for a few minutes so we know he defs there again

Yeah I think this is the game for it. He’s been on the bench the last 2 games now and had zero minutes. Carrick just wanted him to feel a part of it again. I reckon he’s had half an eye on this Rotherham game as the game for him to come off the bench and get some minutes

I reckon O’Brien will be on the bench for the next two games but likely won’t get any minutes. Think he’ll have to wait until after the Chelsea game. We’ve got quite good cover now with Hackney, Barlaser, Howson and Azaz.

Yes agree, Carricks done the right thing at the minute, involving him in match day squads, introducing him back slowly

the mass number of subs you can take helps a lot with stuff like this I reckon

I suspect a lot of it will be psychological conditioning to inspire him to keep up his recovery regime. Letting him see the finish line as he nears the end of his rehab, encouragement in much the same way you would an athlete in the last few hundred yards of a marathon.

It's important to be absolutely sure that the Player has recovered and the body is fully healed. Careers can be ruined by being rushed back too quickly with setback after setback soon becoming the norm. It seems a very quick recovery after such a serious injury even allowing for the fact he is an athlete in the prime of health with excellent medical care and rehabilitation. Let's hope when he is blooded he is ready and has no ill effects.

We're not very good against Rotherham, definitely owe them a beating.

Two wins, two draws, and four losses in the last eight is pretty bad considering they're almost always getting relegated or have just been promoted.

Save Howson and Clarke for Chelsea. Jones could do with a rest too, might as well play Azaz and Greenwood who can't be involved in the cup.

              Glover

Ayling - Fry - VDB - Engel

      Hackney - Barlaser

  Rogers - Azaz - Greenwood

              Forss

I can't see Forss starting on Saturday but I do think he will play a big part against Chelsea.

we shouldnt rest players or wrap them in cotton wool as such. if they are fit play them. i recall back in the euro years. we rested our best players before the sevilla final. look how that worked out. waste of time. if anything it only disrupted the teams rhythm.

You can't put the resting the players v Fulham for the Seville cup final, we, unfortunately, met a team on the rise in europe, they went & beat Barcelona in the super cup, or whatever is was called, after beating us, granted decisions went against us that day but they had big, big players in their team

That is what I am saying Erimus, he will only play a bit part on Saturday and will be used more against Chelsea.

How are you anyway?
