To say that O'Brien was just doing his job and covering the man in the middle .. Is like saying that RVB shouldn't save the big hance at the goal line, cause that was not where he should be  ...

O'brien could and should easily reach and defend against their scorer!

Or our goalkeeper could do the job he's paid to do and save an easy speculative shot.

There's a good fan vid doing the rounds and it is a better finish than it looks on TV. Rusyn does a Forss, he hits it early, reasonable amount of pace and swerve, stays low and it bounces just in front of Glover. You would still expect a Championship keeper to save it most times but it looks like Glover was a bit on his heels, not expecting the shot and gets caught out. I would put it at 50/50 good finish bad keeping.

That's extremely generous. Glover should've thrown his cap on it. No excuse.

watched the highlights

most good opportunities seem to come from engel - some unbelievable balls in behind

cant wait until dieng is fit

Azaz created three great chances via through balls in the first half as well. He's getting a lot of stick but i thought i'd mention it to balance out perspective. I actually thought he was a bit sloppy yesterday but i'm throwing my weight behind him. I think he's going to be a great asset to us.

Yep, he impressed me with his vision and I don't think he did anything wrong beyond the poor finish for his chance in the first half.

Agree Humpty, Glovers face at the end knew hed dropped a massive clanger

I felt for him, he's been good for us since standing in for Dieng, who will slot back in when fit & ready

I'll give him his dues. I'd been given a bad recommendation by an aussie football fan when he signed. I feared the worst but he's a great option as a number two. Up until the goal he'd played really well.

The big concern for me is stopping too many needless goals, not sundays, you cant rule out individual errors, just look at Allison yesterday, both goal down to his mistakes. No we just concede far to many goals, we have done since Michael Carrick arrived, which hasnt been addressed, maybe its just down to the system we play

Agree, I think a lot of Boro fans thought the worst when we knew he was stepping up with Dieng going away, I had my doubts & the comment, Glover always has a mistake in him, doesn't every player

I think Glover has shown why he is second choice but show me how many teams have a genuinely good first and second-choice goalkeeper. The only teams I can think of are West Ham and Arsenal and only the former seem to be comfortably dealing with that situation for the time being. And the latter is struggling because neither of them have made a really strong case to keep the gloves, yet Raya seems to be the flavour of the manager. Glover is probably among the better second choice keepers we've had for a while. It was a lot worse when we had 2 keepers of similar talents most recently, as neither Lumley nor Daniels were actually good enough for the job, Bettinelli and Archer gave each a hop for their money too.

It doesn't seem to register with Carrick that we concede far too many goals. Surely most coaches and their team would recognise this glaring weakness. I suspect every team we play fancy their chances to score against us. It's as if the coach and players are oblivious to it. This is not the mark of a good manager in my book.
