What a load of ***.

We drew against a team above us in the table, the only reason we drew is bc of a keeper howler and one of our players missing an open goal (though it was 25 yards out).

We had greenwood CF  a make shift forward line that included a cm and a striker playing out wide.

What exactly are you expecting?

Did I miss something in your argument after all you stated “what a load of ***”
Which part of my posting are you contesting exactly.
I read numerous media reports and comments as well as stats so I’m well aware of what happened during the game.
Are you contesting these reports. I should ask what exactly where you expecting before the game.
LinoJo3 you should refrain from ranting and slagging off postings and base your argument on the content you contest.
Could do better. I’m sure you are familiar with the foot note.

That’s the thing though, if Engel is going to be up there then the team has to shift the shape to get up and support him. I’m not blaming Engel for making the run or crossing, it’s his instructions to do that. Howson is clearly the guy who’s job it was to cover, O’Brien rightly goes with the man running through the middle and Howson suddenly sees the danger and tries to get back.

But as I said, after he’s took his first touch we have him contained enough that 9/10 times he wouldn’t score. The ONLY way he could have scored from that situation would have been to hit it early which is what he did, had he took another touch we’d have probably won the ball back. So while the defending did leave him in a huge amount of space we did kind of compensate as well as can be expected, maybe Howson could have been a bit closer.

Big IF and a lot of speculation don’t you thinkimage.png.87779b9e7126e02a7bb003a549574e54.png

Just home and catching up.
Well I read the score and stats mmmm two shots on target said it all for me. well we didn’t loose.
Mediocre BORO 12 wins and 12 defeats so far this season just highlights the clubs lack of ambition. No intent philosophy passes by season after season and it’s beyond time fans realise we are built to comfortably compete mid table. A season utopia would be a playoff spot.
Is that a bad thing giving the size and state of the town, I don’t think it is as long as we witness decent football.
I laughed at the BBC as they tagged BORO as a promotion hopefuls. Come on if you can’t laugh at yourself it’s a sad world.

I put it in bold.

What was I expecting from the game? A close game that I thought we might struggle in due to our injuries and make shift team. I was actually surprised we were the better team through most of it.

Fully agree not to mention the injuries. How can you complain about x amount of teams scoring more goals than us and not mention we’ve had no fit striker for weeks. Even Forrs is only in his 3rd game back I think, plus our best player in the 3 behind has played about 5 games all season.

Would you be referring that other teams don’t have injuries or we incur more then others. Do you have the stats or figures on the X amount of teams. Would that 2, 3 or 10.

As you disagree can you provide some reasoning. Possibly investment, strategy, statistics, statements?

He should but I am giving Carrick and his coaches a free pass for this season due to the absentees and injury list, if it continues next season then we have a deep seated problem

It was the same last year tbf. We just scored an obscene amount of goals that covered our poor defensive record.

Just realised out of 15 home games this season in the league we've only scored 16 goals. 4 of them were against Preston which makes the stat look worse. It feels like the chance creation has largely been there in most games so this is something that will need to be addressed.

Is it only 6 wins as well?

Or our goalkeeper could do the job he's paid to do and save an easy speculative shot.

Can you name one goalkeeper who will never make a mistake, he's made saves while deputiting for Dieng that he shouldnt have

He'll hold his hands up to that mistake, his face said it all at full time, when a player stops making mistakes on the field is the time he retires

TBF, all he's really saying is in analysing that goal, there is one clear problem above all others and that's the keeper should be saving it, nothing about expecting perfection from players all the time. Like you say, Glover knows full well he should save it and will hold his hands up to it.

The more I watch Sunderland's goal the worse it gets. To leave an opposition player in so much space is verging on the imbecilic. Yes Glover buggered up big time, but their player should never have been in a position to even get the ball, never mind put in a shot. You want your full backs to bomb on get crosses in. I don't blame Engel. He needed to be covered as soon as he made his run..All of this tells me something about the mentality of our players. They are far too complacent and sloppy.. This was a really important game.We were winning with just a few minutes to go. Where is the leadership screaming for that cover in such a crucial time in the game? There was no Boro player within 20/30 yards of him. Did Carrick give those players who failed so spectacularly a royal bollacking. I doubt it.

No I can't, but that defence works for any footballer making any mistake ever. Glover was completely at fault for the goal, that was the sole point of post. He's been largely serviceable.

So because I disagree with you I have to qualify it with all of that? Why don’t you back up your claims with “some reasoning, investment, strategy, statistics, statements?”

It an opinion, you know I can’t back it up, I mean how on earth am I going to have access to Gibsons investment strategy??

If you want to use this season as evidence that ‘we set up to be mid table’ can I use last season to counter that? Like when we were pushing pretty hard for 2nd place?

What about the investment in and complete over haul of the recruitment/scouting department? Does that not show ambition?
