Well if they were back today then no reason they couldn't be on the bench I suppose.  Neither started against South Korea did they?

Our brother is a Sunderland fan, there's a big group of them walking from the Stadium of S***e to the Riverside overnight on Saturday to get there in time for sundays game, in support of a Boro fan th

Watching that today though mate, he was "born" offside that lad.

  • Was it Hinchcliffe who was summarising - he said are a “nearly” team and he is bang on there. we did a lot of good stuff today but so often we get in to good positions and then play a poor ball o

Yeah Jones being injured properly puts the kibosh on Forss being the striker for a bit.

I suppose they were only in Qatar to be fair. Not THAT far all things considered.

I thought it would be Greenwood up top, Hackney on the left, Forss on the right.  Like the set up against Chelsea.

Greenwood and azaz didn't play against Chelsea so can't really go by that imo. With the talk from Carrick of forss being a forward option I just have a feeling that he'll try him there. Not sure which of azaz or Greenwood would play from the right though.

Three hours ahead so not that bad.  About 8 hours flight time so again not too bad.  I would think starting would be too much though?

Yeah same mate. Azaz in the no.10 role.

If they are back in the squad straight away, you can't fault their commitment whatsoever, and I'd hope that some of the Boro fans that bizarrely abused them for going to represent Australia might reflect on their words.

They've just experienced devastation with their country, conceding a 96th minute to miss out on a major semi-final yesterday, and they're straight back in to their day job, without taking a break.

I was just thinking back to Greenwood playing on the right earlier, and being next to useless there.  Was it Ipswich?  You're got to remember that Carrick has also recently said that we don't need strikers as we have other players who can play there, then names Silvera, Greenwood, and Crooks I think.  If he plays Forss up front then he has to play two players in different positions, if Greenwood is up front then it's just one.  That's why I was leaning towards that set up.  That's if the team is correct of course cos I'd almost have expected him to start Crooks up top tbh.

Greenwood's been next to useless in his natural position too at times tbf. I dunno. They'll rotate anyway likely, I don't think it matters THAT much which one starts up there.

We could go 433, Azaz left, Greenwood central and Forrs right, Hackney being the attacking of the 3 midfielders. It’s basically the same thing anyway but I think Hackney will be central.

The one ’benefit’ (if you can call it that) from our current situation is opposition managers won’t have a clue how we are setting up. Even from that reported 11 there’s probably 3 or 4 different possibilities with some being different formations.

If it's true I like the 3 amigos in midfield. Makes the most of what we have.

Would be chuffed if McGree made the bench. Him and Dieng coming back will be real boosts. No slight meant to others but they are different class in my opinion.

Given the players available, the team isn't too bad.

Obviously yet again not having a proper striker is irritating, but there's nothing we can do about it now.
